FABClub (Female Authors Book Club) discussion

The year is almost over (ahhhh) and we are really pumped for the Atwood project next year. For those of you who may not be as excited we are still planning to have monthly non-Atwood selections... so feel free to nominate some lady authors for January!

It might be nice to celebrate some female book award nominees from late this year. The short list for the Booker Prize included just two ladies:

I was looking at the winners and finalists for the National Book Award http://www.nationalbook.org/nba2014.h... and came up with two books that caught my eye:
Station Eleven
Brown Girl Dreaming

And then there are sooo many fascinating books among the Goodreads finalists for 2014 that I haven't read!

OMG the finalist list has like ONE book that I've read this year, and that's it hahaha FAIL

I don't feel too obligated to read the latest books; the good ones will still be around in a year or two (or more), and the so-so ones will quietly disappear without my needing to pay any attention to them.

Totally true! I feel like last year I did a bit better. I did read a lot of old sci-fi this year though, time well spent :)

Ghana Must Go has been on my list for a while and I just snagged a copy of it so I'd be totally on board to read it with the group!
