Anna (annaik) | 401 comments January readings

During January I managed to read 2 books for the ATY challenge, 4 books in total though. It is my first year doing this and not sure how it will go but I am hanging in there. Might have to choose books with no so many pages.

1. A book with a title that doesn't contain the letters A, T or Y
Pompeii by Robert Harris
I read Pompeii by Robert Harris, historical fiction about the eruption of Vesuvius. It took me a while to get into the book and to get to know the characters but all in all I quite liked it still.
🌟🌟🌟

2. A book by an author whose last name is one syllable
Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King
I read Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King.
I liked the story as such but thought it was a bit slow at times. Maybe it could have been shortened a bit. On a rating scale of six it would have gotten a 4 but now it will be rated 3 out of five.

Anna (annaik) | 401 comments Bit late in summing it up but here are the February readings

February readings

3. A book that you are prompted to read because of something you read in 2019
Lasarus by Lars Kepler
I read Lazarus by Lars Kepler.
This is a series that I have been reading for a while and I read the previous book late in 2019 and wanted to continue quite close after. It is a fast paced crime novel, a bit more violence than I actually like.
🌟🌟🌟

4. A book set in a place or time that you wouldn't want to live
Red Rising (Red Rising Saga, #1) by Pierce Brown
Living in the future on Mars in a society with caste does not appeal for me. The book got a 🌟🌟🌟🌟 rating from me though

5. The first book in a series that you have not started
The Keeper of Lost Causes (Department Q, #1) by Jussi Adler-Olsen
First book in a series about cold cases that takes place in Denmark. I have been wanting to start this series for a long time but never taken the time. With this prompt now was as good as anytime and I will continue to read the series. I really liked the plot and the book.
🌟🌟🌟🌟

6. A book with a mode of transportation on the cover
1793 by Niklas Natt och Dag
I read the book 1793, the English edition is called The Wolf and the Watchman. On the Swedish cover there is wooden ships on the cover which represents the mode of transportation for me. The book is a historical crime novel and eventhough rough and brutal at places I liked the story.
🌟🌟🌟🌟

Anna (annaik) | 401 comments April has not been a good month for me reading wise but hopefully I will catch up soon.

April readings
7. A book set in the southern hemisphere
Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton
The book takes place in Brisbane, Australia. I thought the book took some time to get into and it was not actually until the last 3rd that I started to get into the book and enjoy it. Maybe the book had been made better justice if I had read it in original language and not in Swedish. I don't know.
