INTRODUCING YOURSELF AND PREFERRED GENRES

Genres I enjoy..... How about I list what I don't read...
Westerns, Hardcore Romance, erotica ( I did read the 50 shades series and liked it), some nonfiction(although not completely turned off by it).
So everything else is game. I am currently addicted to YS fantasy, any and all things Faerie. vampire, girl power, dystopian..
I am also doing some Adult fantasy as well. Let's not forget Horror, Paranormal, psychological based and mystery.
I also like my John Grisham, Harlen Cobin, Jodi Picult, just to name a few.
That's me in a nut shell. I am so sure I am missing something though. lol

I am not a fan of westerns, autobiographies, self-help, or super sappy love stories. Other than that, if you bring it, I will read it.
Some of my favorite authors are: Addison Cain, TM Frazier, CD Reiss, A Zavarelli, Sara Fields, Milana Jacks, Lili St. Germaine, Scott Hildreth, Dot Hutchinson and Aleatha Romig

I read a lot of stuff but my favorite is fantasy. I also read science fiction, urban fantasy, dystopia, biographies, political books, satire, romance, mystery, and horror.
I don't enjoy self-help books but mostly because I have an enormous ego and feel that I love myself too much to change it.
My favorite authors are: Leigh Bardugo, Erin Morgenstern, Hugh Howry, V. E. Schwab, and Kurt Vonnegut.

I think my favorite genres include Reverse Harem, "Romantic Fantasy" (read smut with magic), epic fantasy, urban fantasy, Steampunk..... just fantasy lol
I want to get into some good sci-fi (more Mass Effect and less Asimov), so if anyone has any good suggestions, let me know.
I'm currently trying to catch up on some manga and horror (another fave, almost forgot) between classes but studying has unfortunately killed my ability to read as much as I'd like.
Is that everything? I hope so..... TOODLES

I love books where the boundaries between heroes and villains are blurred. One of my favorite authors is Amy Bartol. She is excellent at blurring those lines. Or as I once heard, the best villain thinks he is the hero of his own story.

Reverse Harem is fantastic! Love me some shifter romance. And generally anything that takes my mind from my reality. :)

I'm into most fiction:
-paranormal
-dystopia
-fantasy
-contemporary
-psychological thrillers (audio version, I'm weird like that)
I like: strong badass females, tough males who aren't abusive, sarcasms, humor, sex appeal (but not when everyone is panty dropping hot-that's annoying), some conflict and love triangles (with a whiny voice: I know... but I like to see which one they get).
- I avoid: reverse harem, MM, predifile, incest, and huge age gap romance (50 with a 18 year old- too creepy) and slow moving, repetitive, eye rolling, lead pushover female, type books. I also hate editing my reviews so don't judge.
I need an escape from my happy, crazy life and books are my getaway.
I love honest reviews without an agenda and those who don't have five star ratings for every book and are tough critics. Read on and who doesn't love baby Yoda!?
Zoey, Vicky, Catherine, Suz, Lisa, Jacquelyn, Payal, Astralnature, Cinnabelle, Carolyn, Joanne. Thank you guys for joining the group. I've avidly read your posts and favorite genres and it's such a thrill to see so many of you like Dystopia and Paranormal. I think those genres don't get the respect they deserve.
I'm Michelle, but I'd rather go by my middle name, Corinne. I'm a voracious reader open to everything, even non-fiction, cook books and historical. Usually I prefer books in any genre when romance is really relevant to the plot. I don't like romance thrown there just for the sake it, it has to be well-written. Preferably no manwhores. I love virgin heroes and heroines. I rarely read books without romance but I just finished Gone Girl and it was a wild ride. Admittedly I have a special spot in my heart for steamy romances. I own a Nook, A Kindle a Sony e-reader, plenty of reading apps to read in my cellphone. I don't listen to audiobooks, the exception is when Kindle Unlimited offers me the option to listen to my favorite books for free. I'm part of the Kindle Unlimited elite as some people call it, but during summers I take a break from KU (my Amazon prime subscription is untouchable, they'll bury me with it when I die) and borrow books from Hoopla or Scribd.
The books that got me hooked into reading were Harry Potter
and
and now I can't stop.
If I may offer you a suggestion, can you please when talking about books use the add book/author option? It'll make them easier to find, for those who haven't heard of them.

I just love to read. I appreciate well-developed characters, great world building, good writing, and an entertaining story. I like books that make me cry (not hard to do, sad to say), and ones that can make me laugh. I like books that make me think or see the world through a different lens. I like books that sweep me off my feet and carry me into another world. I like happy endings and sad endings and even those ambiguous endings. All I ask is that it fits with the rest of the book. I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers though--unless I have the next book handy! LOL

I’ve recently started getting into reading quite a bit this year. I’ve always been a reader, but this year I’ve embraced it more, and surpassed any reading goal I thought possible.
My favourite genre is probably NA / YA, Fantasy, or Dystopian Future. I’m always open to a bit of romance too! I’m a sucker for a good love story! I am open to reading other genres - except horrors, and some thrillers - but I tend to mostly read YA/NA. I’ve recently got into the bully romance, and reverse harem genres, and they are currently my guilty pleasures!
I’m super excited to be a part of this group. I’m not 100% sure how it all works, but I appreciate the invite nonetheless!

I am Sophia from Johannesburg but originally from the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. I grew up on Pacesetter novels, Greek and Roman mythologies and a few American classics like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn and some that I cannot remember, my school library was not very big nor very diverse. When I started working, I promoted myself to Mills & Boon and a whole lot of Danielle Steele, our bookshops were also not very diverse. Thanks to the internet, my reading tastes expanded to a whole new world of different genres but my real and first love is still romance with a touch of supernatural. I hate non-fiction, self-help and biographies, or actually any book that I am supposed to learn something from. I read to escape, so the more imaginative and improbable the plot the better. I try to avoid series that have not yet been concluded, patience is not my strongest virtue.
I love anything romance but prefer dark to sweet and not very keen on erotica or bdsm, though I have come across some that I enjoyed. I love Sci-Fi, aliens and time travel, I am still exploring the genre. I will read anything RH, MC and Mafia. I don’t do well with crime and suspense. I love exploring new genres that I have not been exposed to before, as long as they have love story in the mix, I have discovered so much about myself through this.
Oh, and English is not my first language so expressing myself sometimes can be a challenge but I have a dictionary app on my phone which I use a lot. So please don’t mind my gramma, I almost always don’t know where the comma is supposed to go.

Antihero, villian type are also my favorite. I hate repentent badboys, especially if I liked the character as was first presented, I always feel cheated.

I'm Riva, I love dystopia romance, fantasy romance, high fantasy romance, ghost, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, time travel..
I dont really like reverse harem, suspense, mystery and angst, oh yaahhh.. heavy bdsm too.
And since I'm not a native english speaker, I would like to say Sorry, firsthand for my grammar.

My name is Loredana and as you, I love books. I’m always searching for good Fantasy books, Romance, SF, Paranormal or dystopia.
I avoid books with incest or Reverse Harem -> I’ve tried reading Curse of Gods (Jaymin Eve), but stopped at book 4.
My all-time favorites are Harry Potter series (no need for further details :) ), Forever Evermore trilogy (Scarlett Dawn), Amy Bartol with her series: The Premonition (even if the end was disappointing for me) or a good Romance like The Wall of Winnipeg and me (Mariana Zapata).
Even if I do not enjoy a book as much as I intended to (because it's just not my type of reading), I will always appreciate the style and writing of an author. Here I can give a good example: Captive Prince series (C.S Pacat)
If you have any book suggestions, please feel free to share them: even if it will be reverse harem :)

A little info about my preferences. My favorite genres are:
Thrillers, Mysteries, Suspense, Crime, Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Historical Fiction, True Crime, Horror, and some Autobiographies.
I don't like Romance or anything "Hallmark Movie Channel-like." I'm a member of three other groups: The Life of a Book Addict, Everyone Has Read This But Me, and the YA Friend Book Club.
Some of my favorite authors include: Preston&Child, James Patterson, Kathy Reichs, Tess Gerrittsen, and more recently -- Shannon Mayer.
That's it in a nutshell.

I enjoy Young Adult Books the most, but it has to be a good stories, I am not a werewolf or vampire style person. To be honest they annoy me a lot.
I read a large variety of books from Paranormal Romance to Young Adult Books. If it is a good story, you can bet I will be having my nose in it to read every word.
Good or bad I will read a book till the end, sometimes that is a struggle, but I cannot allow a book to Not be finished!
Thanks for the invite!

I love a good romance weather it be a rom-com, bully romance, dari romance or anything in between. Growing up I hated reading up until Harry Potter first came out. After that I went with my cousin to half priced books and found a love that's been growing strong since! I will read just about anything as long as it's not a horror or biography. I love a good Anti-hero or RH. Contemporary or paranormal are also really great when it comes to my reading.
Hopefully that gives you a sample of me life! Oh, and I have a tin of books on my TBR that I just cany seem to catch up on. No matter how much I read I just keep finding more and more! I love it!

I'm Cherry, thanks for the invite.
Before I say anything else: I agree with Cinnabelle and Loredana Amy Bartol is one of my favorite authors.
My Favorite genres are Too many for just one post, and there's also too many subgenres, it can get confusing.
How about my least favorite genres?
High Fantasy, I love epic and fantasy romance, with tons of paranormal romance, case in point The A Court of Thorns and Roses books, but in my opinion ACOTAR isn't High fantasy.
RH: I have enjoyed a couple of RH's, but it's not a genre I'm really looking forward to.
Self-Help: I don't need a book to tell me what it's just common sense.
YA contemporary: I hate teen drama queens.
Anything that doesn't fall into this categories is something I'd probably enjoy.

I've read almost every NA out there: NA Urban Fantasy, NA Epic Fantasy, NA Paranormal, NA contemporary.
I look forward to talking books with you.

Much like my taste in music, and my sexuality, my taste in books are very much fluid. If there is good character development in it, I will most probably become obsessed with it. Some of the best I've seen thus far has come from authors such as T.J. Klune, Jane Austen, Rainbow Rowell, Markus Zusak, Benjamin Alire Sáenz, and Maggie Stiefvater. If there are queer characters? Another sure-fire way to get me hooked.
I used to be a big snob about the genres and would only read Fantasy or YA romance novels, but now that I've expanded I really have found some real gems and I hope y'all help me find even better ones!
Thank you, Vicky, for the invite!

I love nothing more than talking books and discussing *ranting about* on-going series that I'm reading with friends. I'm a terribly lazy reviewer because I can't take the time to write anything in depth, I'm too impatient to get to the next one. :)
Thanks to E.Coello *Erin* for the invite!

My favorite books to read are romances. And really any sub genre under that. I will read sci-fi and some YA series like Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead or Shade of a Vampire by Bella Forest. But I generally stick to adult books because I like all the juicy bits. I will say if a book sounds interesting, regardless of genre I will read it. The only books I find I won’t read are non-fiction or biographies. Those I have to do on audible. Now that I can handle. I’ve discovered some really amazing books that way. Fiction and Non-fiction alike. Most recently I listened to Gabrielle Unions “We’re Going To Need More Wine” and Tiffany Haddish “The Last Black Unicorn” and they were amazing. Definitely worth the read or listen to but if you don’t like vulgarity then this isn’t for you because these women were real and raw in every aspect of retelling their lives.
I’m not one those people who grew up reading. As a kid reading was the bane of my existence and I would fall asleep reading book required for school. Even if they were good. But in the last 5 years or so I’ve developed a love for reading and writing. And I guess we will see where that takes me.

I mostly read my daughters' recommendations, but now she doesn't have much time to read for fun. To find books, I joined Kindle Unlimited, became active with Goodreads, and joined free promo book sites. I look forward to receiving recommendations from this group and thank you for the invitation.

I taught my daughter to read as well and now she is following in the tradition by teaching her daughter to read.
What reading has taught me is, That I don't need to worry about what others think of me, It only matters what I think of me. I am more tolerant of other people and cultures. I love learning new things and always love the journey an author takes to bring a new world to life. Some of my friends call me a crow, lol they say I always have a little gem of knowledge about something.
Looking Forward to learning new things and finding new authors and books.
M

My favourite genre is fantasy (or anything close to it) but other genres are fine too. I don't have a favourite author, but these days I am eagerly awaiting for Laurie Forest's third book in "The Black Witch" series!
Three things I love:
Reading
Music
Food
See you all =D

I petty much love reading Lesbian romance, Paranormal romance and reverse harem with at least one female love interest..those are extremely difficult to find, but I like what I like. I also like the diversity of this group.

Some authors I will automatically pick up, no questions asked: Laini Taylor, Leigh Bardugo, Maggie Stiefvater, V.E. Schwab, Adam Silvera, Cassandra Clare, Patrick Rothfuss, Erin Morgenstern, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
Some of my favorite books:
- Harry Potter
- Ten Thousand Doors of January
- Fire & Water: A Suspense-filled Story of Art, Love, Passion, and Madness
- Unravel
- An Ember in the Ashes series
- Raven Cycle series
- The Night Circus
- Strange the Dreamer duology
- Shades of Magic trilogy
- The Celestial Trilogy
- When We Collided
- If He Had Been With Me
- Lunar Chronicles
- Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy series
- Bartimaeous Trilogy
- Artemis Fowl series
Well, there's much more to say but it's 4 a.m. here and it feels like my brain has checked out. I'm excited to see what everyone's interested in.
~ Beth

My favorite authors are all women; Anne McCaffrey, Elizabeth Moon, Catherine Asaro, Anne Bishop, and Marrion Zimmer Bradley. I used to love a good romance, and I still do but lately I have discovered the world of Gamelit or LitRPG. That has been my addiction for the last year or so.
Unfortunately I am on a budget so if a book isn't free or on KIndle Unlimited then I will have to pass it up.
I am not too sure what this group is for but I was invited to here I am.

Hi, I'm Amanda. For the next 18 months I live in South Korea, but I move around a lot.
I have always been a Reader but took a 10 year long hiatus after having children wrecked my ability to focus and retain information for a while. I started to ease back into my reading habit in 2015 (I also had a small burst of activity in 2011), and this year was the one where it stuck and took off again. I needed to Introvert and retreat into my head harder than usual, and SFR, PNR, and FR has been my landing place. I also enjoy non-fiction reads quite a lot, but I'm willing to read most things at least once if it's well-written. That being said, I'm not much of a YA reader, and I'm not a big fan of NA either when I can avoid it. I'm trying to focus on reading works written by women or pretty much anyone who isn't a white dude, though a few still slip in. ;P
My favorite author these days is R. Lee Smith, and my favorite reads are ones that delve deep and hurt before they give me something beautiful to think about. I like books that are bold and willing to buck the formula for a genre or refuse to fit into any one genre at all.
I love to analyze everything, and have often been accused of being no fun to watch anything with because I "clearly hate everything." When I'm not ruining everyone's enjoyment of everything they love (ha), I am usually making things with my hands. I love to knit, cross stitch, sew, draw, paint, write.... I keep myself pretty occupied.

I love all books with romance except the predictable teeny bopper nonsense that makes you face palm.
Currently I'm into dark romances and reverse harem, also anything with painting featured in it.
Some of my favourite books/series include:
- A court of mist and fury
- Kit Davenport series by Tate James
- Corrupt series by Penelope Douglas
- Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters
- Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas
- Paper Princess by Erin Watt
- Seraph Black series by Jaymin Eve
- Confess by Colleen Hoover
- Vicious by LJ Shen
- The Silver Swan by Amo Jones
- Dirty Filthy Rich Men - Laurelin Paige
- Curse of the Gods -Jaymin eve and Jane Washington
- The Veil Diaries series - BL Brunnemer
If you have read any of these, please recommend

Thanks for the invite :).

Favorite authors:
Ellen O'Connell
Kate L Mary
Zoe Sharp
Ann Aguirre
Tess Gerritsen
Charlaine Harris
Lisa Kleypas
Kim Harrison
Tara Brown
Anne Bishop
Sorry, so many more.

I like pretty much all genres in romance (。・ω・。) from mm to fmm(+), reverse harem to usual couple compositions XD. I like modern setting as much as historical, sc-fi or fantasy, slice of life or detective books (*´∇`*) as long as the book itself is good I have no preferences ^_^ Just moods I prefers to read a genre more then another (´⊙ω⊙`). I am originally an french speaker (i’m French) tho so I have a preference when the narration is clear and the actions of the heroes easy to fallow along the way.

Hi my name is Rube (pronounced ruby). I don't really have a preferred genre, I read anything as long as the synopsis catches my interest, though there are some I tend not to enjoy (bit of a contradiction I know). I do have 'phases' though, I can have an alien, a dystopian, a historical phase, etc. I tend to stay away from cliche YA novels, especially the fantasy/paranormal ones where the MC is supposed to be the saving grace of the world but is more of a mary-sue or she is described as badass but seems to lack in every way including brains.

My favorite genres are urban fantasy, romance and otherwise, fantasy and sci fi. I love middle grade and adult books, but I got really tired of reading exactly the same YA plots over and over again.

I am a stay at home who is about to enter the workplace after 10 years. Thank you for the invite.

I'll read just about anything if it comes highly recommended, but my favorite genre often changes with my mood. I'm a big fan of New Adult/Adult, Fantasy, Romance, some YAs.
Some of my favorite authors are Colleen Hoover, Cassaundra Clare, Sarah J. Maas, Amelia Hutchins, Elle Kennedy, Laura Thalassa, J. Lynn Armentrout, Tahereh Mafi, Tijan, and others I'm not thinking of (props to anyone that read that whole list).
I look forward to seeing what you all think and it's nice "meeting" you all!

-Unwind
-Harry Potter
-Narnia
-Lord of the Rings
-Divergent (I no it's not very well liked on Goodreads but I'm still a teen and also it was my first dystopian so please don't judge me)
-Inkheart
-His Dark Materials
