Catka | 270 comments Personal challenges:
100 books (as usual, I will try for 100 print or ebooks, plus audiobooks, because I do enjoy them)

✔️ Space, Science, and Technology
✔️ 12. Read a book about our solar system, or a book set on another planet/world. - Foundation by Isaac Asimov
✔️ 13. Read a book about life in an extra-terrestrial colony. - The Humans by Matt Haig (well, this is a bit of a twist, as the book is written from the point of view of an alien coming to Earth and observing humans, which, for him is an extra-terrestrial colony. But given my non-interest in sci-fi, this is likely as far as I would go)
✔️ 14. Read a book about any science or a scientist (real or fictional), or authored by a scientist. - Machines Like Me by Ian McEwan (Alan Turing, computer science)
✔️ 15. Read a book authored by an engineer or has an engineer (any field) as its main character. - The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

Very interesting woman, very interesting life story.
✔️ 18. Read a book about a fine art or craft, or about someone (real or fictional) who is an artist, such as a painter, musician, or artisan. - Jane Austen doma (Jane Austen at Home) by Lucy Worsley; The Crane Wife by Patrick Ness
✔️ 19. Read a collection of essays. - Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge
✔️ 20. Read a non-fiction book on a past or current social issue. - Čepiec (A Bonnet) by Katarína Kucbelová - a very interesting book describing a life in a rural region of Slovakia, which is very underdeveloped. Also, there are big troubles connected to the large population of Roma minority living there. That is also one of the reasons, many people are supporting the extreme right-wing political party there.
✔️ 21. Read a book that features an individual who strives toward healthier living. - Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson - Jenny Lawson suffers from all kinds of mental illnesses but does a lot of things to improve her own condition and to help and improve and talk about these issues publicly too. She is very funny too.
✔️ 22. Read a book that describes a community’s efforts to improve its quality of life. - The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson - this was about a Pack Horse Librarian project introduced in rural areas in US in 1930s, bringing books and reading materials to remote dwellings in the mountains (lovely book)

Bonus Adventures
✔️ 23. Read a book about a real or fictional adventurer. - The Burning Page from the excellent series The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

✔️ 30. bonus book(s): my adventure into the unknown - I read a lot of books out of my genre this year, and I am selecting the exceptional Laini Taylor´s Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares duology. Fantasy is not my favorite genre at all, but Laini has convinced me that it just may be.

LOL! Same here. I joined another yearly challenge just yesterday after holding out for a week.

Catka | 270 comments tell me about it!
my problem was that I kept looking for more and more books when I was joining challenges last year and my TBR list and heaps of books at home and in kindle got out of hand. so I decided to read only (or as a priority, let´s be realistic) books that I already have or are at least already on the TBR list. luckily, in this case, they fit the prompts of the challenge, or majority of them.

Catka | 270 comments February - The Five Love Languages

6/5

✔️ 1. Gifts - Read a book about a holiday where gifts are exchanged, read a book set in the "present", or read a book you received as a gift:
Jane Austen doma (Jane Austen at Home) by Lucy Worsley - this was a Christmas present I got two years ago, also, Jane regularly created hand-made presents for her numerous nephews and nieces and her whole art is a big wonderful present for us readers

✔️ 2. Words of Affirmation - Read a book with a lot of words (500+ pages), read a book recommended to you by someone else, or read a self-help book or something that lifts your mood:
Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson - this was a very funny book, and also Jenny uses "furiously happy" as her affirmation for feeling good when she is not depressed

✔️ 3. Acts of Service - Read a book about someone in a service trade, such as restaurant waitstaff, beauticians, store clerks, customer service, etc. or read a book where someone does something nice for someone else. -
The Crane Wife by Patrick Ness - George, the main character, owned a print shop (service), also Kumiko, the other main character, has given a gift of forgiveness and love to everyone who met her
✔️ The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson - a story of a Pack Horse Librarian, who was bringing books to the remote areas of the Kentucky mountains in 1930s. This was an excellent book and I loved it very much.

✔️ 4. Quality Time - Read a book with a group or buddy or TBR twin, read a book with the word "time" in the title or a clock/watch on the cover, or read a book where the main character(s) go on a vacation.
Listopadoví motýli (Butterflies in November) by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir - the main female character goes on a "summer vacation" in November on a road trip around the Iceland with a small boy

✔️ 5. Physical Touch - Read a book that includes a romance (any genre), read a book that has two people touching on the cover, or read any physical book that you can hold in your hand.
Osudy a běsy (Fates and Furies) by Lauren Groff - this meets all the above criteria: it is a romance, I read a physical book (only I did not enjoy it very much) and it has a cover with two people touching: Osudy a běsy by Lauren Groff
