The Mountain Between Us is a fun exciting adventure story, perfect for this time of year. Charles Martin deftly sets up tools for survival in the first few pages of the book. When two strangers, Ben Payne and Ashley Knox briefly meet at the airport in Salt Lake City and then are left stranded in a storm, they decide to hire a private flight to Denver to beat out the storm and arrive at their destination in a timely fashion.

But then things happen and they are stranded in the High Uintas Wilderness in Winter. Ashley has a broken femur. I had much sympathy for her because I had broke my femur many years ago and spent 5 weeks in the hospital in traction.

This is a fun read. I had a few issues about credibility but that is often the nature of adventure stories. It is a quick, easy, suspenseful read which is just what I wanted.
