Barbara | 110 comments I started the year with an art book about drawing cats but I know that isn't a cozy so doesn't count towards this challenge but I just wanted everybody to know that I started the year off right! How to Draw Cats (Walter Foster Art Books 13) by Walter T. Foster

I finished the Sunny and Shadow series Catch as Cat Can (Sunny & Shadow Mystery #5) by Claire Donally

Got pulled into this new series that isn't cat cozy related but that I want to finish because there are only a handful of books in the series so that is why I haven't read more cat cozies.

The art book looks good.

I've read a couple from the Sunny and Shadow series. I have fallen behind on that series, but I will get back to it.

Sunny and Shadow series is written by a guy author with a lot of popular titles in other genres so it is unlikely we will get more of Sunny and Shadow any time soon but I will likely read them if they are printed.

Barbara | 110 comments Finished Calico Confusion (Marjorie's Cozy Kitten Cafe #1) by Katherine Hayton it is short but easy to get through. I liked the idea of the kitten adoption cafe that the main character runs but would rather it be more like: she adopts cats who are disabled, elderly, homeless, or have special needs and gives them a forever home and runs a cafe where people can come to pet them and socialize with them like they do in japan.

This way the cats have a forever home with her and she gets money and business win win.

I will continue with this series as I can afford to buy the books.

Barbara | 110 comments Currently reading Sweet Additions (Sweet Cove Cozy Mystery, #17) by J.A. Whiting the cats, there are two, in this series don't do as much as they used to and I am not sure of how much more their parts will be cut as the author has gotten two of her main sisters of the four, who are all main characters, pregnant and if there are any indications that their kids are going to appear in every book signifigantly then I will have to stop reading.

I already put up with enough in this series with the way the stories are written.

New book comes out this Friday so I am eager to see how this all works out. Got my preorder in in January.

Barbara | 110 comments Forgot to add that I finished two in the Witch City series:
Final Exam (Witch City Mystery #8) by Carol J. Perry
Late Checkout (Witch City Mystery #9) by Carol J. Perry

Don't think I will continue with this series as I am just not a fan of the main character. I like the cats that appear but I am just not a fan of the main character or the other humans or the settings or the plots. The stories go on way too long as if the author has to fill a page quota and then once that is done she quickly has the mystery solve itself with little real solving by the main character and her cop boyfriend.

I might read more in this series later I dunno just to see what the cat is doing but I am just NOT a fan of this series.

Barbara | 110 comments Finished the Sweet Cove #17 Sweet Additions book mentioned above https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Now reading Death's a Witch (A Paranormal Cozy Mystery) The Mystic Shallows Book 1 by Sabrina Sams I thought the cat would play a larger roll but not thus far.

Its a short story and very middle gradish in its style I guess I dunno. I like it but would rather read something else with more cat characters.

EDIT: No. Not a cat cozy.

Barbara | 110 comments Chartreux Shock (Marjorie's Cozy Kitten Cafe #2) by Katherine Hayton There are only three in this series but I consider them cat cozies since cats are featured quite a bit even though they do not help solve the crime they are important to the story.

Barbara | 110 comments Leger - Cat Sleuth (Leger - Cat Sleuth #1) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Gift (Leger - Cat Sleuth #5) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Eyes - A Halloween Cat Sleuth Story (Leger - Cat Sleuth #3) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Secret (Leger - Cat Sleuth #9) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Sidekick (Leger - Cat Sleuth #7) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Curiosity (Leger - Cat Sleuth #2) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Curiosity (Leger - Cat Sleuth #2) by Lacey Dearie Leger & Lily (The Leger Cat Sleuth Mysteries Book 21) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Love (Leger - Cat Sleuth #6) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Winter (Leger - Cat Sleuth #4) by Lacey Dearie Leger's Island (Leger - Cat Sleuth #8) by Lacey Dearie Read 1-9 Want to read up to 11 and then buy some more and hopefully finish the series this year.
They are short 85 or less pages but I enjoy them and they help keep you on track to a goodreads goal though part of me thinks they shouldn't count because they are so short, lol.

I am enjoying them and would recommend.

The author has a youtube channel and says that she plans on doing some audio books of the stories. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE8h...

Hurry, the author is raising the price. They are really short stories not novels and were .99 cents for YEARS and then as soon as I started buying a few to make sure I had the first 11 or 15 or whatever in order in my computer she raised the price to $1.50 I had been waiting to read this series for years but if she keeps this up I won't.

Barbara | 110 comments Wrong Side of the Claw (Mystic Notch #7) by Leighann Dobbs Finally read this after having it for what seems like years in my computer. This is another author I have issues with.

When I first discovered this series I binge read it, spent my money, was very invested in the characters and then she drags her ass and doesn't write another installment for like two years and then again a long wait for this one. She has a crap ton of other serieses.

Framed in Cherry Hills (Cozy Cat Caper Mystery, #2) by Paige Sleuth This is cute. Will read more.

Oooh....thanks for letting me know. Hope they don't go up too much and you get to keep reading them. :)

Both of these look good and I'll look into them as well. I've run into Leighann Dobbs name while looking for cat cozy books. I'll give them a try. :)

Barbara | 110 comments Midnight Magic (Familiar Kitten Mysteries Book 2) by Sara Bourgeois Love this little series. Hope it becomes a reverse harem sort of deal. The heroine seems a bit 'all powerful' but its all cheesy goodness with a talking cat and a sexy vampire so I am down with it.

The author has set things up so that her books publish once a month and there are a lot available for preorder. I don't know if there is a set number of books and she is done or what. But I've preordered two more and if I continue to like the characters I will eventually read the whole series.

Murder in Cherry Hills (Cozy Cat Caper Mystery, #1) by Paige Sleuth Is another series I enjoy. I am not sure it qualifies exactly as a cat cozy because the cats don't solve the crimes or talk BUT the main theme of the stories is a nice middle aged lady who joins an animal rescue group and adopts her murdered neighbor's cat and becomes a cat lady. I like the characters and the stories are short. So, even if they don't count towards this challenge I would recommend them.

Jeanne Miller (goodreadscomjeanne_miller) | 24 comments Great recommendations. Thank you so much. I just signed up for Kindle Unlimited this month, so I'll check to see which ones are available to borrow.

It is sounding like I have a fun reading time ahead of me.

:)

Barbara | 110 comments Finished the second in the Pet Whisperer P.I. series. In this the cat does talk and helps solve the crime.

Terrier Transgressions (Pet Whisperer P.I. #2) by Molly Fitz by Molly Fitz

Just bought more. Still excited to finish what I got of the Leger series and get more. The author is still writing them which is great.

And a new Mr. Poe has been published which is great. The Masque of the Red Cat (The Psychic Cat Mysteries, #3) by S.M. Reine Mr. Poe is a cat who talks and solves crime with his zombie pal who is the sherrif of a vacation world for otherworldly beings that exists in a wormhole dimension. Its funny and I love Mr. Poe.

message 23: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 110 comments Finished these to add to my readathon challenge thingy. Need to read more of my Leger series since that cat is the actual sleuth but I also want to read more of my Pet Whisperer PI series. The cat helps solve the crimes in that one and talks to his human too.

My goal is to read all the ebooks I bought in different serieses so I can justify buying more but I don't think I can complete all of what is available in each series since some are long but then others are only a few books.

Sympathetic Magic (Familiar Kitten Mysteries #3) by Sara Bourgeois In this series the cat does talk and is magical and helps solve the crime. Though the romance troubles of the main character which is the cat's human pal is more pronounced than any mystery.

The Masque of the Red Cat (The Psychic Cat Mysteries, #3) by S.M. Reine and Fall of the House of Cat (The Psychic Cat Mysteries, #4) by S.M. Reine

These books are cheap enough to buy to support the author.

Barbara | 110 comments Finished the Catnip Level with Leger's City (Leger - Cat Sleuth #10) by Lacey Dearie Leger's City back to reading about Leger and his exploits now. I don't know if I can complete the entire series this year but that is fine I want to enjoy it.

The stories are from Leger, a detective cat's, point of view and he has all sorts of talking friends like his dog friend he lives with, a seagull, and more. Though I was disappointed the way he destroyed this informant mouse's entire family. Shame.

At any rate, I am done counting now as I've reached the Catnip Level.

The author gets paid on the kindle unlimited program. They get paid by the page reads.
