This is definitely on my radar! I have that Metaframe war clock set on a timer in my head! Let the countdown begin! :-)

And perhaps not the most important but definitely the most fun: play more dungeons and dragons.

Is anything left for the next year?

What about you, Nik? Anything special planned for the ext year?

Hope the 2nd will go well!
I have an operation looming once hospitals get permit to deal with non-urgent stuff. The rest will depend on how it goes and more generally - whether the virus is curbed, of course

Merci, danke, whenever that happens. Have boundless patience and an excellent year! What's scarier: Biden or corona? :)

If something about me needs modification, it will happen or not at some point during the year.

Thanks a lot, Leonie. You must be over the time ridge by now, fully immersed in the future :)

Congratulations, Anne, and best wishes for success with your new book. Marketing is always a challenge and very time consuming. I wish I had some useful advice. But I do wish you the best of luck with your book.

Yeah, that is even a cooler link, thanks :) Didn't recognize Bono at first

Congratulations on getting your book published! Nice way to begin the New Year. As the founder of an author's group of 17 published authors, I can assure you that you are not alone in trying to figure out how to promote yourself as an author and your book(s). The big five publishers put around $100K into any new author it debutes, and more $ into promoting that author until the author either captures an audience, or fails to a point they drop the novice (usually within about a two-week span). So, as authors we need to replace that with our own time and effort. Pretty daunting. The plus is we have more time than money. The minus is that we need a team of people to pull it off effectively. Our authors do what they can, hope for the best, anticipate realistically, and put their time and efforts where they most enjoy putting them--which is writing the next book … and they keep the day job until they retire. But there is nothing more exciting than hearing when an author makes it big. You could be our next shinning star. Never let go of the dream. But keep writing!

Well, my last goal died a miserable death. At the time book #6 was 'The Enforcer,' which I've wrapped into Book #7 'The Key of Ahknaton,' as a 28K word (novelette, or short novella).
In reality - Book #6 got written... Book #7 is a WIP, due later this year.

First off, I'm going to devote myself to the practice of 'Humility,' and as a direct and immediate consequence, I will give up all my prior efforts at world domination.
I will use my remaining funds in my 'WorldDominion4Me,' account (jointly hosted at Goldman Sachs, and J.P. Morgan) to provide for the retrenchment of my many minions, followers and hangers on. They have all provided perfectly loyal service in aid of my many nefarious plans and have provided much comfort to me in my many travails and unfortunate reversals over the course of 2020. These brave and resolute souls will receive a handsome stipend to enable them to find new and useful careers in all manner of industries, such as ice estimation, ice cream tasting, and mime (well perhaps not mime - but I did advise them of this in the memo.)
As for my hairless cat, the delightful 'Pixie,' I will retain her services for the foreseeable future as she helps me sit upright when she's in my lap, which provides a wonderful posture to support the retention of my monocle. That damn sucker keeps slipping out whenever I bend over...
As for my most recent and brilliantly conceived (but poorly executed) endeavours, the attempt to gain absolute control of the Norwegian ice cream market appears to have gone astray. Much like my many efforts to corner the futures market for snow in Iceland, I must in the spirit of humility apportion at least the majority of the blame for my past and recent failures upon my good and esteemed self.
So, not wanting to take more of your precious time with my tales of woe, I shall make a short and simple summary of my goal for 2021.
I will become the most humble man in the world...

Good luck with conquering as many markets as you desire! The snow one is of especial interest to me. Once you become a snow king, I'll petition for a quota, as this type of precipitation is extremely rare in my area

I'm sure we can work out a price...

Graeme, your most humble claim reminds my of my son who owns a border collie (BC1) who likes to chase balls, etc. However, over the Christmas holidays they looked after another border collie (BC2) for a neighbour who went away for vacation. Now, when they both go out to chase balls because it turns out BC2 is a little faster, BC1 refuses to chase unless she knows she will win.
I suspect the same has happened with your refusal to go after world domination - you know you will get beaten and you refuse to be publicly seen as beaten 😀😀😀

"I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
which he did thrice refuse..."
Probably just a stray thought.

Hahahaha...

As long as you write something here, we'll count it as writing, G.R. :)
Funny, my New Year's resolution is tied in with one of the other threads. I'm aiming to pay for more things in cash rather than with debit card. I'm doing my bit to keep cash king :)

Although they try to reduce/outlaw cash settlements, I prefer cash too
Don't know if it's a global thing but in the UK many homeless people sell a magazine called the Big Issue, and get to keep some of the proceeds. The other day, I had to apologise to one of these chaps for not having any cash on me but he said not to worry because he now carries a card machine. Incredible :)
