Nice challenge, thank you. Looking forward to it.

A debut, on the Deutsche Buchpreis-Longlist in 2018, and I quite liked it. The ending was a bit abrupt, hence 3.5*

There is a Dutch translation available that I intend to read. I had it in my hands last time I was in the library, but I had already reached the maximum number of books I could borrow.

Haha, yes, indeed. Too bad its a male author, cant even hold up the cover on youtube for her to shriek.

The writing style was not quite my cup of tea but still, an interesting read: 3.5*

If I keep going at this speed, I will soon reach the next level :-)

6. Der Klavierschüler by Lea Singer
7. Our 1st group read: River, by Esther Kinsky
8. Effingers: Roman by Gabriele Tergit
9. Telefónica by Ilsa Barea-Kulcsar
10. Etwas Seltenes überhaupt: Erinnerungen by Gabriele Tergit

I didn't like the writing (I thought it was 'bloated') and the story was strung together by too many unbelievable coincidences and muddled with too many details that didn't have any significance at all. But I hope you will like it better than I did!

It's huge, and hence sometimes it drags a bit, but the story of a Jewish family in Germany in the first half of the 20th century is still more than worthwhile.
4*

Quite 'different': 3.5* rounded up.

Not a new favorite but interesting, glad I finally read it.
3*

Interesting but it didn't quite hit home for me.
3*

Well-written and about a very relevant topic (racism in Germany) but not quite succesful as a 'novel'.
2.5*

Which means I have moved this folder to the next level: Großglockner!

I reached the Großglockner. Yeah, me!

Not my cup of tea, too moralistic and the author is what I would call in German 'geschwätzig' (talks too much).
2*
