Everyone,

I've just realized we have very scant titles represented on the nonfiction side of spy/spec-ops. We have a sub-shelf of our main bookshelf where we list these titles for readers interested in military history, commando training, true-anecdotes, and real-life crossover.

I'd like to ask you all to help us increase this shelf. Please suggest anything you can think of, which might fit.

If you don't know how to add the book yourself, let me know and I will add it.

Thanks a heap!

Feliks

Samuel | 648 comments Not a book but a academic lecture. By one Harold Adrian Philby. 1980's East Berlin, the audience, a bunch of freshly minted Stasi thugs.

The topic, the life and times of a gloating narcissist who managed to outwit some of the top spies of his day.

Samuel | 648 comments Ben Mackintyre a spy among friends? Would that be suitable for the IRL section?

Aye. Thanks.

Ben Mackintyre's works should be well-represented in the shelf of our book area called 'Nonfiction-Newer'

If you see any of his titles lacking a presence there, let me know!

By the way Roger Ebert absolutely slammed the controversial John Wayne movie, 'The Green Berets' when it first came out.

I pretty much align myself with his remarks; but one thing he fails to acknowledge was that the source material was by author Robin Moore (who also wrote 'The French Connection') and it was a work of nonfiction. Sure, its okay to bash the very overtly gung-ho movie but the facts it was based on are a matter of record.
