I am an absolute fool for Christmas music. It just makes me happy. So to spread the cheer I’ve planned a fairly easy task.

Read ONE book whose TITLE shares a word with the title of one of my favorite Christmas Songs. The word must be 4 or more letters long. The word must match exactly – NO variations. Note – you may only use the book’s TITLE – NO subtitles or series names.

Required: Book must be a minimum of 250 pages. State the song title and the word you are matching when you post.

NOTE: ebooks without print versions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. If you read an ebook or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition.

My 10 favorite Christmas songs (in alphabetical order):
Angels We Have Heard On High
Christmas Time Is Here
I’ll Be Home For Christmas
It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas
Joy to the World
O Holy Night
Santa Baby
Silver Bells
White Christmas
Winter Wonderland

Words you can match:
Angels, Baby, Beginning, Bells, Christmas, Have, Heard, Here, High, Holy, Home, Like, Look, Night, Santa, Silver, Time, White, Winter, Wonderland, World

Optional: - Listen to YOUR favorite Christmas music while reading. (Try not to sing along ... I dare you!)

Wolf in White Van - 208 pages

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments NOT an EXACT Match - Disallowed

The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas - Matching word must be in TITLE (i.e. before the colon)

Angel - the word must be plural to match the song title.

Angels' Blood - Possessive is a variation so does not match exactly.

The Vertical Farm: Feeding the World in the 21st Century - Matching word must be in TITLE (i.e. before the colon)

You sure can - be sure to identify the SONG title as well as the word you are matching when you post.

Yes, that works.

Sorry, no. Only the TITLE can be used, and neither "Greatest" nor "Gift" is a word in any of the song titles.
The subtitle is that part after the colon: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas ... but per task requirements you cannot use the subtitle.

I'm sure you can use this book for another task, though.

frugalitymom (frugalitymom) Thank you. :)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 923 comments Going with "I'll be Home for Christmas" since I actually will be home this year. :)

Home for a Spell

Thanks for the warm fuzzies!

Plus, I'm already doing the optional part at work since half the lab is taking turns playing favorite christmas music.

message 16: by SamZ (new)

SamZ (samwisezbrown) I think I'll go with A McKettrick Christmas and "It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas" I love listening to the Johnny Mathis version while putting up my tree :)

♞ Pat Gent | 786 comments I'm going with A Land More Kind Than Home by Wiley Cash A Land More Kind Than Home. Wanted to read this for a while now.

Claire (proud-mum) | 1086 comments I am going to read Angels of Destruction by Keith Donohue.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Michael wrote: "So no Angel?"

Sorry, no. It has to be ANGELS (plural) to match the word in Angels We Have Heard On High exactly.

message 23: by Michael (new)

Michael Mcdaid | 163 comments Okay thanks. I was afraid you would say that. But wanted to make sure.

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments Angels' Blood - i'm assuming punctuation counts as well, and this wouldn't work

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Dee wrote: "Angels' Blood - i'm assuming punctuation counts as well, and this wouldn't work"

Correct, Dee. Exact match only - no variations. So the possessive won't work for this task.

message 26: by Terra (new)

Terra (terra_g) Just to confirm, I can use Wolf in White Van by John Darnielle for this task? thanks!

This book is less than 250 pages so cannot be used for this task.

Nicole | 1295 comments Is the book I Was Here by Gayle Forman ok? I just want to double check. I always worry about the YA titles. ;)

The title must have a matching word that is 4 or more letters long. The match must be EXACT (no plurals, or possessives, or any other variation)
The book must be at least 250 pages long.
You must state the song title and the matching word in your post.

If you meet those three requirements you're good to go.

Yes it meets those. Just making sure I wasn't hitting a genre problem. Thanks!
