Thoughts? I wouldn't mind reading a really good science fiction text if somebody has a rec.

Have you read Ender's Game? I know it's pretty old but it's the best sci fi book I've read I think, a runner up would be Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card as well which is a lot more recent (probably the best and most thorough time-travel novel out there)

Yup. I read Ender's Game game in high school and the follow up about the porcine species of aliens (?) Is that Pathfinder or is Pathfinder a newer text? Hasn't Orson Scott Card gone off the deep end of politics recently. I remember reading something pretty extreme?

Another really awesome sci fi book is Ready Player One by Earnest Cline; it's postapocalyptic (but NOT dystopian), when the world is in ruins and the main character, like many others, retreat into a video game named Oasis. There are tons and tons of 80s references (which I didn't really get but still found interesting) and most of the book is in the video game as the main character tries to figure out a puzzle set within the video game.

Ms. Lonardo (another 9th grade teacher) loved ready player one and I am told that it is perfect for the 80/90's gamer/ lover of science fiction. I will add it to my list.

I recommend the Insignia series by S. J. Kincaid.

I'm probably going to read a Jack Reacher novel, considering I've enjoyed so many of them. As far as other books go, I've got to check out other books through recommendations.

I recommend books by Patrick Ness if your'e into the mysterious and post apocalyptic books. My personal favorite is "More than this" and i was thinking about reading "The Knife of Never Letting Go" by him. Its a trilogy also.

I'm deciding if I should re-read Haroun after we have analyzed the text and reveled so much about the plot. Maybe, as a reader you will get a different experience and perspective on how it is written and the authors motives. Thoughts?
