Works of Thomas Hardy discussion

I couldn’t read Jude again. While exquisitely written, it’s just too tragic and sad.

Side note: In both Jude and The Woodlanders, Hardy calls attention to a female character using a hairpiece to bolster her natural tresses. Did this happen in any of his other novels? Maybe he had some personal experience here.
