This was my first read from author David Haynes and I gotta say it was a delightfully good book. The book is written in a dark and wicked horror essence and during the Victorian Era which perhaps makes it such a chilling read. The book consists of short stories each intertwining with one another and just when you think you know what's going on your thrown for a loop. I love the way the book is written and it's certainly a different read from the normal horror I'm used to reading. The book really captures a certain kind of horror, the characters are chilling and presentable and the book really comes together throughout the author's words and each story really comes together as well.
I really enjoyed the way it was written and the language really gives you a feeling that your within the book which is naturally what a book should do, bring you in. The overall essence is a great delivery of Macabre and blend of old fashioned horror.
There other books called Seance of the Souls and Ballet of the Bones which are sort of the sequels to this book. I've also read this one and it's just as good as the second. Strongly recommend each book.
