Catching up on Classics (and lots more!) discussion

This will be the third year for the A-Z Tile Challenge. the goal is read 26 books, each is to have a different letter of the alphabet (English Alphabet) in it's title. The books you choose can be any genre and no restriction on when published.

Only books read between January 1st - December 31st 2015 can be used.

I am going to be a rebel. Simply because I would find it weird to start looking for titles in different languages to get some letters if I read the book in Finnish. So I am going to pick the Finnish alphabet but take off the letters that are not native in Finnish and thus usually don't start words (only names and some loan words). If I read something in English, I will of course use the English title. But don't worry, the last three letters will be difficult. I probably have to read two books about "nights". (Yö=a night, yöt=nights, öiden, öinä... = nights (plural but declined)...)

Thanks, Tytti. I agree that's more of a challenge; hence more fun. It's my first time doing this challenge so was just checking whether Bob's wording was deliberately wide-ranging with the more limited version being a personal choice, or everyone "just knows that".

Thank you. All but 4 are Star Trek novels, so unless you're a fan, my list is useless for tips on the tricky letters. :(

However, if you've seen "All Our Yesterdays" (TOS: S3E23) and "The City on the Edge of Forever" (TOS:S1E29)you can read Yesterday's Son. If you've seen "Amok Time" (TOS: S2E1) and "Journey to Babel" (TOS: S2E10) you can read The Vulcan Academy Murders. The rest, well...they won't make any sense if you haven't seen every episode of every series and the books which follow. I accidentally read one of them out of order and was very confused.

Thank you Julie & Pink! :) It would have taken me all year if I had read only classics though. Some of those letters are difficult to find outside of the science fiction/fantasy genre.

I'd recommend the Q book I read, The Quiet American by Graham Greene.

For V I'm planning on The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides because I loved Middlesex and want to try another of his novels.

I've got Q and X left. For Q I'm doing Q by Luther Blisset. It's a thriller involving Martin Luther and the Catholic Church and a spy. Can't tag, sorry. X is Xenophobia by Peter Crawdon (?). It involves a humanitarian aid NGO withdrawal from a war torn African country. The withdrawal is happening with the first sightings of aliens and the american president pissed the aliens off. The audio is a cast with sound effects. :)

I like Nathan's selections too. They're both in my TBR.
