Sophie | 216 comments This is #63 on our 100 books list and one of our group reads for March 2020.

In 1939, as Hitler casts his enormous, cruel shadow across the world, the seeds of apartheid take root in South Africa. There, a boy called Peekay is born. His childhood is marked by humiliation and abandonment, yet he vows to survive and conceives heroic dreams–which are nothing compared to what life actually has in store for him. (Penguin Random House)

Have you read this book? Let's discuss...

Lisa (lisadannatt) | 743 comments I am South African.
This was a high school setwork read just post Apartheid. I remember really enjoying the book and finding it thought provoking.

Kayleigh | 97 comments I'm currently listening to The Power of One as an audiobook, only 3 hours in and I have already cried and laughed out loud, absolutely loving this book up to now.

Seriously thank you to whoever suggested it for the 100 list.
