Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) jb wrote: "I do not watch the news. Not on TV and not on the internet."

I don't watch either (the chatter drives me insane....). But I read.

The obsession seems to be abating a little, though. I'm doing all the things I can control and there's really no sense in obsessing over the rest. The read-a-thon is helping me focus, too. I managed 5 hours of (not news) reading yesterday. Today, I'm baking hogie rolls and making faux-meatballs for "meatball" subs. Planning to read (not news) while the bread rises..... ;-)

Christine Indorf | 16 comments jb wrote: "I do not watch the news. Not on TV and not on the internet." I am so glad we don't have cable. Through this whole virus I have only seen the things I need to know not the crap that the news tries to scare us with. My son was obsessed with the news and was worried sick. We finally got him off the internet and he's better. I think the news is making to much worse than it is. Now I believe its bad but I'm not listening to all the scary stuff which really helps!!

As far as news goes, there are a few sites I visit if I need to know something. I don’t worry about the news I can’t control. I haven’t watched TV news or cable news in about 19 years. After 9/12 I decided enough was enough (or too much). I only trust a few sites to report mostly true news and facts.

How is everyone’s reading coming along? I’m 2.5 hours into it. I’m still plowing through On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous (which I’m not liking too much) and I started listening to Happier Now by Nataly Kogan.

message 22: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathepsut) I read a lot less today than I originally wanted to. I wasn‘t in the right frame of mind to read all day. That probably has less to do with Covid19 and constant news about it as such and more with me working from home for the last two weeks. Plus I played on my iPad until the wee hours of the night and was really, really tired this morning. Currently I clock in at 6.5 hours, half reading/half audio.

Cathy (cathepsut) I finished The Tempest yesterday and another story in my current fantasy read, The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall. I also indulged and started a fanfiction story. My total for the weekend is a little over 9 hours, which is not much.

As the readathon now continues till the 3rd of April, I will start my timer again.. :-)

That one sounds good. Three of my GR friends have read and reviewed it— good, but disturbing...
