The Nerd Daily Book Club discussion

Hello, hello, hello fellow book nerds!

We are very happy you found your way to the fabulous "The Nerd Daily Book Club".

We will be reading one book per month with weekly discussions, fun challenges and just all around nerding about books with other geeks. This space is here for us all to get to know each other and become the bookish friends that we are destined to be :)

We will choose own voices novels for us to read and try to dip into all kinds of important topics, to have all the rep that we need in our lives! If you have a topic you'd love to see in a book discussed in our book club, don't hesitate to reach out and pitch it :)

We are Mimi and Simone from The Nerd Daily and we are here for you if you have any questions or anything else you'd like to tell us!

But that's enough from us now, we want to get to know you all! We are very very excited to meet you :) And would love to know what you expect from the first book itself and from the book club in general! Of course that means what you think we will offer you and what you would love a book club to offer but haven't found one that does yet! :)

My name is Simone (wheee, you knew that already :)), I am old that is to say, 28, which usually makes me very much the mum friend of every friend group.
I probably read YA most because I think that the characters and story lines are usually more diverse than in adult fiction which I enjoy greatly.
I am an absolute coffee enthusiast but just quit so if you see me moping about and see sad books appear on my timeline - you'll know why!
I have a dog who is my everything and she has a lot of different names but most often I call her Frodo.
I have a love for Hummus that cannot be rivaled! Aaaaand in that breath I'd also like to announce that I'm vegan. Because I feel the need to fulfill my stereotype and also because it's important to me :)
I love London and it's theatre so much that I wish I could be there every single second I'm not.

Mimi here! I am but a small munchkin who has a tendency to overwhelm herself with work, bakes cookies for everyone I know (and force-feed them sometimes, because, I mean, it's cookies!) and gets stuck in fandoms either way too late or way too early :)
My reading tastes are about as haphazard and diverse as my music tastes - so I basically read everything from new adult romances to middle-grade contemporaries with a heavy dash of YA added into the mix!
Unlike Simone, I'm too weak to do anything about my coffee addiction (kudos to her, right?) because I'm a Gilmore Girl at heart and without coffee, my brain does not form the words and string the sentences together and - you get it.
I am so excited to get to know you guys and freak out with you about all the phenomenal books we are going to read! <3

Helloooo, my name is Nicole. I'm a coffee addict too and I just got a shiny new machine to feed my coffee addiction during lockdown. I'm vegan too, though I don't normally announce it lol.
I like reading YA mostly, LGBTQ stuff and contemporary fiction with the odd mystery thriller thrown in. I am also getting really into graphic novels lately.
Outside of books, I love all things Captain America and Marvel, all things Disney (I have an annual pass for Disneyland Paris), country music and travelling.
I usually struggle to keep up with goodreads groups so I'm hoping joining this at the start will help and I'm excited to get to know you all.

I'm sorrrry, if it helps I am not making much use of it right now lol. Oh yeah you can't go wrong with America's ass ;) I was about 10 days aways from flying to Boston to meet him at Comic Con when everything got cancelled in March :'(

This is my first time joining a book club, and I am also new goodreads, both pretty much Simone's doing, so thanks for encouraging me!
I'm into all kinds of books really, my favourite genres are probably fantasy and classics like Jane Austen or Elizabeth Gaskell. But YA novels are also high up on my list!
Apart from reading, I like to go longboarding with my dog Matisse (even though I regularly fall on my face), travelling & camping, and just live out my inner nerd.

I'm very excited for this book club to kick off and to get to know everyone involved!

As for pictures of Matisse, I'm happy if I can contribute to the internet dog content, but my lack of technical abilities hinders me as usual. If you can tell me how to do that on here, that'd be grand 😅

I am super excited to join. I am just now posting this because I could finally order the book on Amazon! (I swear I was about to order it the day it came out and they ran out hahaha)
It is supposed to arrive between the 13th and the 18th so let’s pray it’ll arrive next week lol
I love YA Contemporary and Historical Fiction the most I guess but I read anything that is not horror (I get scared OK).
Anyway, it’s so cool to be part of this!

And hey, you're not alone! I haven't been able to stomach a horror movie in over a decade! Watching the House of Wax as a kid really fucked me up. I still get nightmares, so no scary things for me, either, haha.

Hi Everyone! I'm Lauren, @feminist.reading.list on instagram. Super excited to join you, I've never actually participated in a book club before!

I love reading scifi, fantasy, and romance and have a particular affinity for queer stories. Basically all I do right now is read and bake. I am vegan too and have really been upping my baking skills during quarantine. In normal times I also love traveling, hiking, camping, and board games. I'm a big ole nerd and love strategy board games and D&D and all that!
