hi, guys, I'm new here, so I'd like to ask: we will buddy read this book and comment as we go?

hi! to answer your question, kind of. As you read you can comment here your general thoughts and impressions. If you want to talk spoilers use the < spoiler > tag. I will be posting questions here and hopefully we will have a great discussion! Hope that kind of answered your question.

I do remember my first impression and that I was sucked in and liked it right away and really enjoyed the banter between the characters right from the start.
As I kept going I started liking it more and more and it was hard to pause (I was listening to the audiobook which is very well done with multiple narrators and good sound effects)
I ended up giving it 5 stars and I am so excited for the next one coming out this month.

thank you for answering!

Which one do you think you would be?
I think I would be an Ace. I really would love to pilot a space ship!

Do we have a schedule or something to read according to it, or we just go with our own pace?

I'll probably be in the minority here, but I haven't been enjoying this book much. All the voices are so similar, they even have the same type of humor/sarcasm, I don't think I'd know right away who was speaking if it weren't for their names at the beginning of the chapter. I'm also kind of frustrated that Zila has practically no voice in this, and very little mention by other characters. What a miss, as I would love to know more about her! And feels kind of like a slight to introverted (?) shy (?) people. I don't know what to call it, because we no nothing of her or why she's so quiet!
I'm already over Cat's disklike of Aurora and the obvious jealousy.
I'm tired of hearing of Tyler's good looks and dimples/mentions of the entire cast's looks - way too much focus put there. Less looks, more personality, please!

I really liked part 1. Part 2 felt not that great. Part 3 is a struggle but I absolutely see how other people can really like it. I'm holding off judgement until later. I really do like the world and the Aurora Legion stuff though!
What are some other people's thoughts ?

Also, I got an ebook version from my library that had a quiz at the end to see where in the squad you would fall - Brain, Gearhead, Ace, etc. I took it and got Brain! Check it out to see if your version has the quiz, too, and tell us what you get! No worries, there are no spoilers in the quiz so you can take it wherever you are currently in the book.

Wow that's so cool you have a quiz! Glad you liked the ending! Are you going onto book 2 now?

My overall feelings haven't changed - the voices are too similar, I couldn't connect with the characters - who were much more capable than I expected (I was looking forward to some fumbling!), and thee focus on everyone's outfits and dimples and looks in the first 2/3, and all that turned me off enough that I won't be reading the sequel, it's just not an enjoyable style for me.
I definitely see why it's so popular though, and I hope everyone finds the sequel enjoyable if they liked this one!

I think I'd like to be a Brains or a Tank, but I love how each of them are so competent and amazing at their job.
I also loved the conversation Auri and Kal have at the end of the book. I cannot wait to read the sequel!

Also; I think I’d be a Tank or Ace

I agree that this aspect was really cool and I'm excited to find out more. Maybe the "enemy within" has to do with how he was trained and his base instincts like the other instincts mentioned in the book and he's trying to fight against those instincts to do the right thing. We will see in Book 2!

I also thought it odd that there were things that seemed out of place. Like, would they really know "ashes ashes we all fall down", and there were some other references I can't quite remember but that just didn't seem fitting considering how far into the future this was and that they were in space.

What did you think of the Pull? I thought this part was a little bit rushed. The feelings were just there and I wished we could have read more from Kal's point of view, especially in part 2. I hope the next book will elaborate on the Pull further.

Yes I liked it and hope the 2nd talks about the pull more! It reminded me of SJ Maas books

I think it will because Kal is on the cover. I’m about 100 pages from finishing the first book though.
