Patrick Stewart played Karla in the Alec Guinness mini-series.
Do you mean Stewart was in this too?
Also: what kind of action was in this flick?
Is the story about Enigma/Ultra/Magic?

You may mean ...Michael Lonsdale?
And the 'Hungarian' --'Toby Esterhause'? (Character name). Actor name: Sir Nigel Barnard? (although I could be grievously mistaken).
A similar movie: George Segal in 'Russian Roulette'. Who would ever thought that Segal would ever return to East Berlin after his romp as 'Quiller'?

These all seem like weak-sisters.
I'll recommend two much more authentic (Eastern European setting) films:
'The American Friend' by Wim Wenders starring Dennis Hopper
'The Upper Crust' starring Frank Gorshin in a deadly serious role; he nails it. Exquisite.
