Discuss what you did and did not like about this month's pick.

Lacey (libqueen10) | 29 comments So, I have mixed feelings about this book. I like it, but then there are parts where the story just makes me mad. I listened to the audiobook, and although the narrator did a pretty good job, it was still a slow start for me. However, the world building for this story was pretty intriguing.

The idea or premise of three sisters having to compete for a throne/crown and being expected to kill one another is quite interesting, but there are a lot of love interests and love triangles going on. I'm usually open to some kind of love interest in other genres, but some of the activities that transpired between these relationships just annoyed me. After listening to the ending, I decided to listen to book two of the series because it ended with a pretty good cliffhanger. I'm currently listening to it now, but it's still slow too.

Jeslyn Nycole (bayoubookworm) | 5 comments I adored this pick, I’ll admit I read it last year and now am on the latest. Dark and twisted fantasy has never really been my thing, but this book does such a great job with it, that I couldn’t refuse. The nursery rhyme really sold me.

Michelle | 14 comments I enjoyed this book! Some parts surprised me as I was reading but after I thought about them I shouldn't have been as surprised. The story drew me in towards the end with all the scheming happening. I had to read the second right after. I don't think anyone else feels the same way I do but I accept the ending of the second book as the end.

We're glad you liked our pick!
We hope you'll like June's book (Children of Blood and Bone) too!

I definitely agree. I made peace with the ending of the second book being the end of the story for me as well.

Britt Whitfield (bwhitfield) | 11 comments Like Lacey I have mixed feelings about this book. At the end I just couldn't read it fast enough but in the beginning I couldn't really get into it. When I started it I didn't know if I would even reach for the rest of the books in the series. Part of the reason I changed my mind is because I need to see the outcome. We are so often given a definitive "this is the good guy" or at worst a villain redemption arc that lets us know who to root for. With this book all the queens have redeeming qualities and you're just torn over where to place your loyalties. With the final plot twist I'm even more torn where I want this series to end.
