Did you uh by any chance miss the part where I listed my personal favourites?
Harry Potter isn't one of them . I mentioned it because it's a mainstream classic (Movies are fire tho)

The movies are even worse, ffs. Go get a drink... of cyanide.

Don't mind Jogi , he's our friendly neighborhood troll.
He has a slightly twisted sense of humor but ( I'm pretty sure) it's all in jest

The problematic examples are generally when:
1. The author/developer changes for the sequel.
2. The author/developer creates out of compulsion rather than passion (looking at you, J.K Rowling).

awwww such a sweetie omg ur so cute uwu xD are u new here? lets be best bestest frens 4ever

taking it back to the topic at hand, sequels written for the purpose of cloutchasing and making more money are almost always bad. yes, jk rowling and suzanne collins are two very good examples, and we can add rainbow rowell (who wrote carry on and its miserable sequel) to the list as well. fortnite chapter 2, however, began as a pretty good "sequel", if we may call it that, to the first chapter :)

No hard feelings :)
regarding HP you can easily see that its a carbon copy of star wars series with a different kind of environment i.e magic... no offense

I was about to agree with you at first but with my mad research skillz ( 5 minutes worth of googling) I found two main problems with your examples.
1) In the case of LOTR , while it's often called "The LOTR trilogy" it was and I quote (from Wikipedia)
written and conceived as a single book. The source is cited as Tolkien's letters . So Tolkien never had time to run out of steam , seeing as how it was written in one ( albeit very long ) fell swoop.
In the case of my examples Toby Alone was incredible , it sequel Toby and The Secrets of The tree was not.
Perhaps the authors style of writing or ideas changed but something definetly happened during the hiatus.
2) My examples were for the most part written/created by one or two people while games like Doom and Assassin's Creed aren't exactly the brain child of a single person.
P.S
Come to think of it Avatar was created by Mike and Brian but the problem with the sequel may have been the absence of Head Writer Aaron Ehaasz , to whom much of the shows brilliance is often attributed.

I agree with nearly everything you said except the fortnite part.
Hasn't been the same since they removed tilted and added bots.
but heys that's just my personal opinion

Banter aside how exactly is HP similar to ( or a copy of Star wars) .
I honestly know nothing about it other than "LUKE I AM YOUR FATHER" and the other pop culture stuff.
I've seen The Clone wars though , so I'm familiar with the cast.

oh suck at the game , it's just that it just feels . . . . wrong playing against bots , like I'm being dishonest or something

Well, all I have are examples of things that are developed by multiple people (movies and gayms). I don't really read bookas that have sequels because they are generally mediocre or fantasy-based -- neither I like very much.
Btw, I was talking about LOTR movies not bookas. Imagine reading bookas. I'm not a fkn nerd.
The reason why examples of games and movies are valid is because you see people complaining about cash cows there too. I mean, take Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty for example; people just want those franchises to die but there are always fresh 12 years old to buy the mediocrities. The 'true fans' of these franchises have long given up. So yes, your complaints are not restricted to bookas or one man development teams only.

This is it. I shall wallow in my sorrows and commit massive hate crimes across the planet until the day I find acceptance somewhere, and for all my sins you shall be the one to blame.

Imagine being on site called Goodreads and not reading the Bookas. Pp = smol.
As for Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty , those died with Revelations and MW3 .
And while my complaints aren't limited to books they ring true more often in the case of one man teams.

Wut
Not reading bookas while being on a bookas listing site is the definition of BDE. I'd say checkmate but you aren't worthy of being my mate yet.

Of course COD4 servers are still full. The new CODs are seasonal; they die within a few weeks. But COD4 was revolutionary.
Yes that's true about the new CODs. Have you guys played the warzone? Since we are talking about games gta V is also free of epic store..

The use of "yet" gives me hope.
Perhaps one day . . .
As for COD my personal favourites are Black Ops 1 and MW2 , but that may be the memories speaking.
Personally I'm more of a Battlefield person , Bad Company 2 was Revolutionary and I still get a kick out of BF4
@Misty
Yeah I've played Warzone , even managed to borrow the whole MW game for a while.
Say what you will about the multiplayer ( I'm not a fan) but the campaign was in a class of its own.
Never before have I seen a shooter campaign (though it fares well when compared to the likes of Uncharted as well) that is so compelling and outright beautiful , especially the London missions. Good story , good mechanics ( the story exclusive ones) , innovative design.
And the characters are good too.
At least an 8/10 in my books.
Speaking of free games AC 2 was free on the Ubisoft store a while ago.
COD WW2 on the PS4

It'll turn you into a man. Help you improve your testosterone levels. Maybe even build a little bit of muscle if you play it right (i.e do 5 push ups every time you die). And if you manage to finish them on Nightmare difficulty, you will qualify for my 'mate'.

while reading The Black stars I noticed that the set up for a book also affects the quality.
In the 9 books of Skulduggery Pleasant I never felt that anything was forced because everything was very intricately set up.
We start hearing about Lord Vile somewhere in book 2-3 and we get our first taste of Lord Vile as an antagonist in Book 4-5.
the set up is amazing and nothing seems sudden.
I compare that to the book before The Black stars. By itself it was amazing but the authors choicr to change not only the setting ,but the characters , the antagonists and practically every aspect of the book ALL the while also trying to remind us of things from book 1 resulted in a total mess. Stuff happens just because . There isnt a big enough word limit to justify it.
It couldve been a good book , properly explained and all but that would easily amount to 600+ pages and the editors and publishers probably put a break on that train real quick.
Some like Harry Potter and Avatar : The last Airbender become household names while others achieve success within their respective communities.
Masterpieces I've had the pleasure of coming across include :
(1) Avatar the last Airbender
(2)The Skulduggery Pleasant Series
(3) Enders Game ( The novel )
(4) Toby Alone .
And probably others that I've forgotten about or personally don't deem all that great.
The thing is once the creators have used up all that passion , given birth to their Magnum Opus the quality of future conceptions ( or maybe just the quality of the way they're executed ) decreases .
Avatar the last Airbender for example. The sequel show : The Legend of Korra is an abhorrent mess. The writing , choreography , dialogue so many things are noticeably worse to the point of frustration.
Harry Potter was continued relatively reccently , with the "Cursed child" and we all know how that went.
Just a while ago Suzanne Collins released a Hunger Games prequel book and reviews are mixed , inching towards negative.
Amongst my own favourites :
Skulduggery Pleasant. Book was always advertised as the end and while I was initially happy with the prospect of new books , the enthusiasm went away once I realized the new books lacked much of the intricacy , wit and humor of the original series.
The sequels series to Enders Game ( Enders Quintet) is just so bad where do I start.
The second book in the Toby Alone duology is also very obviously bland and left wanting for the beauty of the former.
