Oh page 418, you are funny! I saved everything in the world that I liked, and destroyed anything I thought was stupid, or evil, or both. Also, it’s really hard to use money when there is no government. What happened to Trump Tower? Oh yeah, we buried that in the river a few chapters ago. Do I have regrets? Nope, I’m solid as a rock about it.

I really loved the scene where Mox says goodbye to his army. It was super sweet, but also opened a new chapter for him to go do something new. Morbid as it is, how nice would it be to be in a room with all your favourite people before you die, and you get to hug and say goodbye to everyone, and share a few in-jokes, and play a last game of cards, and know you will be missed, but are also ok with leaving at that moment. May we all have an ending that happy.

I also loved that although it wasn’t mentioned, Sloane must have destroyed all the paparazzi, as no one was running after them for photos. And that because she loved Mox, his world retained siphons, because he and his people loved to use them, but because she no longer loved Matt, his beloved apartment didn’t exist anymore. This made me snarf. Sorry, Matt, your dress shoes and hair gel have gone sayonara.

Sarah (calypte) | 84 comments Ah, better late than never! I thought a bit of the explanation phase near the end came a little out of nowhere. Flashback to Nero's early life? Where there hints I missed before that? Hmm. There were a few bits where I couldn't decide if I was just reading this too late, or if there were jarring leaps - e.g., didn't Sloane race to the river on her own, only for Ziva was with her? Just felt a bit rushed towards the end, imo.

And still, I enjoyed it. I liked the slow world building. I'm slightly surprised it's the first in a series - didn't read like there needed to be more, but then I suppose that makes some of those 'sudden' bits more likely to be expanded?
