Trike | 11190 comments Do we have a comedy SFF thread? I couldn’t find one.

So here’s a bit by Kumail Nanjiani, “Why are there no math teachers at Hogwarts?”: https://youtu.be/BZZzmolEyEA

Trike | 11190 comments “Star Wars v. Harry Potter” — this is funny but the stuff at the end? Dude was prescient.

Trike | 11190 comments Kevin Pollack, “Star Trek 5 recast”: https://youtu.be/_nziS8brN00

I wonder if younger folks will get the references?

Trike | 11190 comments I forgot to post this yesterday, but it made me laugh so hard I hurt myself. Multiple viewings are rewarded.

Loved it :D

Trike | 11190 comments I was thinking of a new topic, “Greatest SF Inventions”, which I might still start (but go ahead if you have a list already), and probably at the very top of that list would be a transporter/teleporter. But they often have downsides.

Which reminded me of this hilarious scene from the brilliant Galaxy Quest: https://youtu.be/nW-NiGp1gys

“What happened? I heard squealing.”
“Nothing, everything’s fine.”
“Except the animal was turned inside out.”
“Inside out?!”
BOOMSPLAT
“And then it exploded.”
😂

Trike | 11190 comments Speaking of stand-up and SFF, here are the clips from the end of the excellent documentary Trekkies. (This was specifically recommended by Mrs. Trike for “Victoria.” She meant Veronica. I’m giving her half credit.)

https://youtu.be/Mxty4YXpmKU

Related trivia: after the film came out, I was talking to the director Roger Nygard and I mentioned that I thought it was amusing that everyone was talking about how “everyone gets along in Trek’s future”, and I said, “Did everyone forget the fisticuffs? Kirk literally has his own fight music.” And he said, “Now I know what Trekkies 2 is going to be about. Do you want to come to the convention and be interviewed?” With all those people? No, thank you, I do not. (I’m not actually agoraphobic, I just find large groups of people *exhausting*. Like “I must retire to my fainting couch” exhausting.)

Best Shatner impression since Tim Allen in Galaxy Quest. Who knew the guy from A Few Good Men had it in him?

Tales From The Crypt for 10 Cellos

and check out Samara Ginsberg's other SFF adaptations
