2015 Reading Challenge [Closed] discussion

Hi there :)
A tiny game for those who like playing with books and words.

Rules:
1. A member writes his own summary of a book he knows.
2. Other members try to guess which book it is and give the title.
3. If nobody succeeds to find the title, questions are authorized.
4. When someone finds the right title, a member writes a new summary.
5. If a title isn't found after a week or its author isn't around, a member can choose a new book.
6. Have fun ;)

I'll start :p

It's a book about a boy who is not really a boy. He wants to live new adventures and leaves his father who becomes really sad. He'll meet some nasty people, discover that boys can be real donkeys and that faeries exist.

Pinocchio!!! The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

I recently catch part of an italian movie adaptation, it was so hilariant.

Okay, my turn! It's a book about a young man who gets shipped off to America by his own parents. There, he founds himself in the most weird situations, including meeting a supposed uncle on the boat.

I have...no clue *blinks*

Clue time: It was a famous Czech author first novel, though it was published posthumously.

Hmm, already a challenge. Franz Kafka? Although I don't know what his first novel was that would be my author guess.

Oh. I'm not intimately familiar with his work, sadly. I should probably remedy that at some point.

How about... the son of a god and a mortal must catch a thief to prove he isn't one.

Is it one of the Percy Jackson books? I know he's a son of a god & a mortal. Never read the stories, so I'm not sure about the thief thing :)

I never read Kafka too, I've to try a book one day.

You got it, Zaz. In this first book he's accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt and he must find the real thief to prove his innocence and avoid the consequences.

The story is about a teenager who lives in a poor country. She has to hunt to feed her family but it's forbidden. The future is not bright for her, so she has to travel. She'll discover a new shallow world, meet bad persons, loose some friends and win new ones.

Let's give it a try. A young boy escapes his abusive father and fakes his own death. He soon encounters another runaway and together they set on a journey filled with wonders and horrors. In the end the past finally catches on, revealing life changing things for both of them.

I was going to say Divergent because of the abusive father. but there's another runaway. So idk :))

This one is a bit older. I'll give a hint, the river Mississippi plays an important role thru the story.

So, it's Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Fin (no clue how to spell it) :p

I'll make an easy one.

This book portraits a highly advanced technological world where there aren't moms nor dads, people are "happy" all the time, the use of drugs (a single one, actually) is highly incentivated and people like ourselves are keep in "savage reserves".

Stuck. Your plot seems pretty specific, like if I'd have read it I would know it, but no... nothing comes to mind.

When you said fairies I thought about Wicked Lovely, but then you give me runaway and murder... no idea ;_;

Yeah, I thought that one might be a little out there. Sorry! Lol. It is Bones of Faerie by Janni Lee Simner. Very very good book!
