So! What did you think about chapters 19-29?

He really cannot catch a break, can he? All he wants is to have friends and be liked.
I do find it very interesting and indicative of today's society that when everyone thinks he kissed Harry, he gets bullied but when they think he slept with Jess, he gets popular.

Here‘s a fun question about that: in what way do we think straight culture and misogyny have to do with that fact? 🤔

oh 100%. Like how it's viewed as a high five moment and right of passage when a guy sleeps with a girl, like a conquest. And the way Noah doesn't want to correct them and goes with it because he doesn't want to get bullied but when they tease him about Harry, he consistently tries to tell them he isn't gay and tries to stop hanging out with Harry.

Also the added bonus of the older popular jock suddenly wanting to be his friend.
I think what‘s important here is to remind ourselves that Noah is just about to turn 16 after all. He is in that awkward phase between kid and growing up and is suddenly bombarded with all of these things he isn’t really comfortable with. I mean the initial thought of “I need a girlfriend“ emerges because of peer pressure not because he actually wanted one.

I just want to wrap him up in a blanket and tell him he‘ll be fine, honestly...

oh definitely, I don't actually blame Noah and I get that if you were being bullied, a part of you will do whatever to make it stop. Plus he is still very confused and doesn't really know what he wants, so his knee jerk reaction is to say he isn't gay because he just wanted to fit in and be popular.
