poshpenny | 1916 comments Secluded cabins, swanky hotels and beach bungalows!

The Shining
A Gentleman in Moscow
At Bertram's Hotel

Yoo Hoo | 69 comments Hotel Paradise - my library version also has a summer drink on the cover but none of the versions I can see on Goodreads have this.

Jessica (soromantical) | 13 comments I've already read it this year and used for the regular popsugar challenge, but The Fountains of SilenceThe Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys would be an excellent choice for this prompt.

message 10: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 698 comments The first post has the most obvious ones. I will second A Gentleman in Moscow and any of the Agatha Christie titles mentioned.

Lauren Oertel | 764 comments I'm planning to read The Last Resort for this one because it's something I would not normally read, but sounds like a good brain break. There are about five other options in this thread I'm also interested in though...

Patricia Angerer | 4 comments I read a cozy mystery for that one
Murder at the Dolphin Hotel by Helena Dixon

Chrissi (clewand84) | 238 comments The Fountains of Silence is an excellent book set in a hotel during Franco's regime in Spain.

Montauk takes place in a resort community/hotel in 1938.

The Unhoneymooners is a hysterical romance at a resort in Hawaii.

The Farm has a sort-of resort for the women who are carrying the babies ...

At the Water's Edge is mainly set in a pub hotel in Scotland.

Kim (kmyers) | 108 comments I was planning to use Drawing Home for this but the hotel in this is more of a setting that figures significantly, but only part of the book takes place there. It would work for a few other prompts, so I may move it to another one. Has anyone read it?

Rachel (rellareads) | 27 comments I think this could be stretched for Caraval (Caraval, #1) by Stephanie Garber

Kathleen | 6 comments I'm using All the Ways We Said Goodbye. Absolutely loved this book and highly recommend

message 22: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (Warped Shelves) (warpedshelves) | 12 comments I read Bellweather Rhapsody, though this is set in winter, so it isn't a very summer-y story.
Other options: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Gourmet Rhapsody, maybe Razzle

Yoo Hoo | 69 comments I used Akin byEmma Donoghue for this prompt and I loved it. Would suit a number of the summer challenge prompts but they go on vacation to the resort of Nice and they stay in a hotel that is very significant to the story.

I believe The Elegance of the Hedgehog is set in a Parisian apartment building, not actually a hotel.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments Laura, you are correct. “Elegance” is set in an apartment building.

message 26: by Lilith (new)

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments I had DNFd An Unwanted Guest and picked it up again. Almost DNFd again but the plot picked up after the first 100 pages. Glad I hung in there.

Worked for this prompt, but I really enjoyed The Couple Next Door! Will check out her other book after the challenges....

message 27: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments Read Murder in the Locked Library by Ellery Adams, book four in her Book Retreat series, for this one.

message 28: by Denise (new)

Denise | 374 comments I'm going for The Unhoneymooners, but At Bertram's Hotel also looks good.

A Gentleman in Moscow is amazing and I highly recommend it.
