No, but you're on the right track! The Snow Queen doesn't involve trolls, but it does have a ton of ice. I'll give you a hint! Jessica Day George. :)

Yup. You got it! Good job! :)
It’s one of my favorite retellings although it’s a bit more obscure.

I never really thought of reading Norwegian fairytales. Brother's Grimm we all know and Hans Christian Andersen ...Charles Perrault but haven't heard about Asbjørnsen until now.

Twelve Dancing Princesses? :)
I had to think a little for this one since slippers made me think of Cinderella, but that didn't match with cloak of invisibility.

I'm sure Norwegian people know all about Asbjørnsen and Moe and it's good for us to broaden our horizons! I haven't heard of them either until you brought him up actually lol. Thanks for the info! It's great knowing who's responsible for preserving one of my favorite fairytales.

This might be too vague? but: craving plants, isolation, blindness.

Ohh which one were you reading?! Was it any good? King Thrushbeard is one of my absolute favorites.
Is it...Rapunzel?

The Lady and the Wish by Jill M. Stengl. I would highly recommend it!! Are there any other King Thrushbeard retellings that you're aware of?

Thanks! I like how you combined the elements of the original fairytale with the movie. Nicely done haha.
Oh. My. God. I love The Lady and the Wish by J.M. Stengl!! It's one of my top favorites of all time.
I have read a few more and the only other one that was a favorite was a novella called A Bear's Bride by Shari L. Tapscott.

Just curious, does the Disney Princess and the Frog still have the golden ball element or is that just in the original story? I haven't watched it.

Ohh you should totally watch the Princess and the Frog by Disney! One of the best villains ever scripted. And no it doesn't. Too bad, wish it had.

Dang you're so good at giving clues. I had to seriously think for a bit to come up with a fairy tale that might be it. I think it might be....Snow White??

Technically, this may not count as a fairy tale? I've read retellings of it, though.
Carina wrote: "You give me more credit than I deserve XD Does Snow White have thimbles? I was thinking of one with pirates.

I was thinking because Snow White was forced to slave after her family and she had to do chores like mending which involves sewing and a thimble. Lol kind of a stretch, but I couldn't think of anything else haha.
Uhh pirates. Shoot. I don't know anything about pirates and fairy tales. lol.

Peter Pan XD
Oh my god! I love your word play!! Haha, that was amazing. Disney did make an adaptation of it in 1953. But it reflects the beliefs of the time it was made so it's rather...racist. Or at the very least misleading. I wouldn't recommend you watch it. I did was was horrified by parts of it because our POV's changed so much from then.
How does a thimble fit into Peter Pan though? It's been a while since I read it so I don't really remember.

The thimble isn't a significant part of the story. From what I remember, Wendy wants to give Peter a kiss, and he has no comphrension of what a kiss is. So she gives him a thimble and calls it a kiss. It's kind of a weird scene, and probably the only reason I remembered it is because it's referenced in Dust by Kara Swanson, which is a retelling of PP. I know a lot of people really like Dust but personally I wasn't a huge fan? But anyway I suppose that's getting off topic.

Not at all! This is a group about fairytales after all haha. I found your fun facts fascinating. Thank you for explaining! I don't remember that scene. Dust sounds interesting. I've never read a retelling of Peter Pan so I'll be sure to give it a shot. Maybe I'll feel the same way you do. :)

Was wondering if I left too small of a clue at first. But if I said matches it would be too easy. :)
