Play Book Tag discussion

Towards the end of the Cold War, the Captain of a Soviet submarine decides to defect, and take the most advanced submarine in the world with him. This was a really thrilling and suspenseful book that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story was engaging and well-researched with detailed descriptions to transport the reader back to the Cold War setting.

This is one of my favorite books. I picked it up a quite a few years ago to read while recovering from surgery-I continued reading the series until just recently. The newer books focus on Jack Ryan Jr. and the books started seeming "same ole story" But the older books in the series are just as good as this one.

This is the first book in this series that I've read, and as it seems to be the most famous one, it was readily available as an ebook from my library. It's good to hear you think the older books in this series are just as good. When the libraries close to me re-open again in about 3 weeks, I'll try to get the first couple in the series, as I do tend to like reading series in order if I can.
