Jenny (jennytr) | 181 comments I think the book I'm looking for is YA although I can't say for sure, what i remember is the h has a best friend who's a boy and he's in a wheelchair which he can operate himself, I think the girl works in a grocery store at night or late evening and there's like another store attatched to it (where the H works) but it wasn't really related to a grocery store which I found odd being from the UK, i remember looking it up because i didnt understand how the H could watch her from a different shop, things I remember are the h singing and dancing around the store possibly, and the best friend would go to her work some times and something happened, I can't remember if someone pushed the wheelchair or if it was an accident but he ended up drowning face down in water and not being able to move from the position he was in, I hope someone can help!

Jenny, that's a good start. Please add more plot details (from your comments) to the topic header (title), so someone can recognize your book from that description alone.

We have thousands of book requests. We close threads with vague headers.

Click the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, there's a "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

- Around what year did you read this book? A range of years is fine.

Jenny (jennytr) | 181 comments I'm on my phone so I can't edit it right now, also I wasn't sure what else to put in the header, do you have any suggestions? definitely within the last 5 years possibly even 2 to 3 years

Wow, this sounds so sad! :(

Jenny (jennytr) | 181 comments It really was as the best friend was a big part of the story I believe and so I wasn't expecting him to die

Terri | 414 comments I'm pretty sure you are looking for Making Faces by Amy Harmon . The blurb does not talk about her best friend at all, but he is in a wheelchair, and is hit by a vehicle on his way home one night and doesn't survive. The two main characters work in a grocery store on different shifts and leave messages for each other.

Her romantic interest is the best friend in a wheelchair?

Jenny (jennytr) | 181 comments it most likely is that book as I've got it on my read list, thank you

Here's a short Amazon "Look Inside" preview for Making Faces by Amy Harmon - Terri's suggestion:

https://www.amazon.com/Making-Faces-A... There are different cover images.

Should we mark your request as Solved?

Jenny (jennytr) | 181 comments Yes please I downloaded it again from Amazon and had a look through it and i believe this is the book I was looking for

Jenny, you're up to 172 comments, and with a private profile we can't tell how many threads you've started (so we can't see if you're creating duplicates).

I left you a comment back in May 2020 asking you to unprivate your profile:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If you don't unprivate your profile we will have to close any future threads you start.

Not interested in this book, but I consider this information (the ending?) a spoiler, and have added spoiler-tags, you should too, in your comment, please.
This not possible in the mobile apps, imho, you need to be in a normal browser, the desktop-version of Goodreads.

I added a spoiler alert to the topic header. Thanks Ingo. (FYI. Currently, if you add a spoiler tag, the spoiler will not be hidden on the Mobile App. This tag appears expanded by default.)

What? Not using the mobile app much, I thought it was like in the mails: only the word spoiler is shown and then blank space, not something to click.
That is not what I expected.
Thanks for the info, I will not use spoilers in threads then.

Have been burned by 2-3 articles where read comments, not thinking there might be spoilers, not on Goodreads though, and I try to be more careful now, which also had the opposite effect of buying bad books as I had not read reviews for fear of spoiling the story, will try to balance that somehow (getting info about a book and not spoiling it)..

Checked on iOS, the spoiler I set gets not shown with "[spoiler removed]".

But not on Android, oh, well. There it gets shown with non clickable text like this
"(view spoiler) [xxx (hide spoiler)]".
Not really functional or even what I expected.

Ingo, good point about checking for (the current) differences between the iOS vs. Android versions of the Goodreads App.

iPhone, iPad = Spoiler text is "removed"
Android = Spoiler text is always displayed, never hidden

Note: There can also be differences between iPhone and iPad versions of the Goodreads App.
