Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 121 comments Hi! I love the idea of everyone reading the same book during the month! I can't wait to chat about them & everything Agatha Christie.

Will it be alright if I join in the monthly reads around mid year? Reading Dame Agatha's autobiography at the moment, and then some others after that, considering I'm reading them as I add them to my collection :)

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 121 comments Excellent! I can't wait! I get really geeky and excited so apologies about any lengthy posts in advance. But it's Agatha Christie, Poirot & Marple?! Who doesn't?! ;)

Look forward to chatting with you all soon :)

Karen | 5 comments Hi, I am new to the group. I retired in May, moved, and have been watching the grandkids for the summer. Now they are back in school, most of the boxes are unpacked and I just catalogued all my Agatha Christie books in Goodreads this week. I think I am ready to start re-reading them and looking forward to reading with the group.

Annamarie (planewxgirl) | 59 comments I am not that proficient at computer things, but I would enjoy a lively discussion about AC! She is a terrific author and Poirot is my very fav! I have read all her books in order before. But am wanting to do so again! I will be happy to hear others thoughts on her works.

Roberta Franklin (goodreadscomroberta_franklin) | 2 comments Hello everybody,
I'm Roberta, and I've been an Agatha fanatic ever since I was 12 or 13 - wherever me and my parents went on holiday with our caravan, I devoured at least 4 or 5 Agatha novels till we got home! I've read about 3/4 of her works by now, many of them over and over again, I've seen all the film and TV adaptations available - in short, I'm a real Agatha nut...

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments That's great Roberta. You'll fit right in with the rest of us. And welcome! :)

Thanks

message 29: by Kris (new)

Kris | 30 comments Hi all, I am new too , but not new to Agatha Christie. I come from a family of readers, so we are like our own little book club: once someone finishes a book, they hand it off to the next person. I love the classics, among a lot of other types of books, and it was recommended to me when I was 13 that I read "Murder On The Orient Express", my first introduction to Hercule Poirot and Agatha Christie. I loved it, and shortly after I finished, it was recommended to me that I read a Miss Marple book. I tried it but couldn't get into it. Earlier this week, I decided to give it another chance: I came across a Poirot book and a Mrs. Marple book for under $8 combined. I think I didn't like Miss Marple because of my age: I was too young to understand the elderly and what goes on in their world. Now I actually work with them, and they too, have suggested I try Miss Marple, so we'll see what happens!

message 30: by Kris (new)

Kris | 30 comments I LOVED Miss Marple this time around! She reminds me physically of my Aunt Gladys (RIP) but personality-wise of Jessica Fletcher from "Murder, She Wrote"! I told my Dad that I couldn't wait to read another Miss Marple!

message 31: by Ant (new)

Ant (antoui) Just want to say I love the profile photo!!!

message 32: by Eileen (new)

Eileen (eileeninmd) | 1 comments Hello, I am new to the group and an avid reader. I love mysteries. I recently started reading or re-reading Agatha Christie's books. So far I have read The Man in the Brown Suit The Man in the Brown Suit (Colonel Race #1) by Agatha Christie and Evil Under the Sun Evil Under the Sun (Hercule Poirot #24) by Agatha Christie . I would like to read these series in order, so I will be behind the group in reading.
What is your favorite Agatha book?

message 33: by C. J. (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments Happy to see so many new faces. Welcome everybody! This is a great group. Just fyi the mod has taken a temporary break but will be back when ready. If anyone is curious about what books we've done as members get to read the Christie works and suggest mysteries month by month check them out and discuss them on those threads. I think our group is aching to discuss these books a lot more!

message 34: by Doug (new)

Doug Goheen | 1 comments Can someone help me with a question about "The Murder on the Links"? In chapter 22, Poirot and Hastings go to Coventry in London to see "The Dulcibella Twins." After the performance, Arthur has a dialogue with a woman. Is this woman Bella or Dulcie? Does he know who it REALLY is? He calls her "Bella." How does he know this. Is it really Dulcie but he thinks it's bella?

Thanks very much for any help!!!!!!!

message 35: by C. J. (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments Hmm interesting question. Now I'm curious myself. I don't know but I hope someone here can answer your question.

message 36: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherineambrose) | 1 comments Hey! I am Catherine and I was 12 when I first watched a VHS tape of "Murder on the Orient Express". After that, I started reading avidly Agatha's novels. Recently, I decided to re-read her first works and also found out that the orient express story was inspired by real events! But the true question is what happened during her 11-day disappearance?

message 37: by C. J. (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments Great to meet you Catherine! Yes I heard the case mentioned witin tjat story was based on a true one. Plus I also am wondering too what happened to Christie during that time as well!
