As the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows, the sea is the only home seventeen-year-old Fable has ever known. Fable (view spoiler)[I thought she was going to get in big trouble when she figured out the emeralds were fake! I'm glad she's made it this far. (hide spoiler)]

Now I just want to read book two, but when it's out I will have forgotten book one...ugh.

Chapter 5

(view spoiler)[ It was really intense to read her trying to escape from Koy, I wasn't expecting him to do something so bad to her. Don't know what to expect from the rest of the book, it's ok so far. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Yeah, I think West is gonna be more friendly to her throughout the book, and I hope Willa will too, she's a nice character so far. Koy is horrible, and I feel like we haven't seen the last of him yet. Speack is whatever, I'm not sure he's gonna appear again. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10

(view spoiler)[ Fable is really stubborn, but it's understandable why she's like this, she had to act this way to survive alone for four year. I think she's going to find out something the crew has been hidding, maybe this will bring them closer - or not. But they certainly have a lot to hide. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I think she just wants to prove to him that she is capable of surviving on her own, and that sh was capable of leaving Jeval without his help. But I also want to know what she's gonna do after she truly finds him. I wonder when any fantasy element is gonna be introduced in the story, it's tagged fantasy but I haven't noticed anything so far. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30

(view spoiler)[ I think Fable is being a smart character so far. It was hard for her to use her mother's necklace "against" her father, but she needed to do this in order to get what she wanted. I'm liking the other characters too. West is still kind of a mystery, but I really like Willa. As for the story itself, it's okay for me so far. I think the fantasy bit is Fable being able to "feel" the gems and know when they're fake or real, but I don't know yet what I'm truly feeling about the story. I like the characters, but the plot hasn't grown on me yet. (hide spoiler)]

Yes, I'm curious about book two as well, hopefully I can remember what happened in this one when it comes out.

(view spoiler)[ I like that the romance has a background before starting, but I'm curious to know how old West is if he was already commanding a ship when he met her (and she was about 16, I believe). Other than that, I think they are good together. It was just weird that kissing scene underwater, because once they opened their mouths, they should be out of breath and should've swallowed a lot of water lol.

I was expecting a little bit more of this book to be honest, because it felt like not enough happened, and her "power" of feeling the gems isn't that exciting, unless the author makes it a bigger and more important plot in the next book. Let's see. (hide spoiler)]

I might have to start this one soon...I'm in a terrible reading slump, and I'm really looking forward to this one, so I'm hoping this book will help me with rest of the month! :)

Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[ Really great first chapter! I was pulled into everything right away!! And I'm curious to learn more about Fable and her dad's history. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 2- So many new terms....

Chapter 5- (view spoiler)[ Dang!! Kind of brutal, but glad Fable made it of Jeval! And West seems to be interesting...we'll probably learn more about him!! I wonder if he'll be the love interest in this book??

Chapter 12- (view spoiler)[ West and Willa have some type of history. Maybe they are together, or are exes? Maybe family? But I'm enjoying finding out little pieces of information about the side characters. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 20- (view spoiler)[ So she found Saint!! It's kind of weird...I'm super addicted to this story, but I also kind of feel like not a ton is going on. I mean there is plenty of action and tension, but I'm not really sure where the overall plot is going...we're just kind of on a ship, coming and going from places, going through storms... I like the ship setting a lot though! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 23- (view spoiler)[ Is that it?!? She spent 4 years waiting to find her father, and that's it?? No...it can't be, right? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26- (view spoiler)[ So Willa and West are siblings!! I was wondering about that... And I'm glad they found him! I was kind of worried he might not make it through the end of the book. (hide spoiler)]

Finished- (view spoiler)[ I really enjoyed this! I'm giving it a 4 star for now, but I'm wondering how much of this I'll actually remember before the next one comes out... That is my problem right now. I have started like 4 different book but can't finish them because they are just not holding my attention.

(view spoiler)[ West is super mysterious and I wonder what they're hiding from Fable because they're definitely hiding something. I'm guessing West will be Fable's love interest so I hope to see some banter because who doesn't love it? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30
(view spoiler)[ West and Willa are siblings! I thought so because I doubted there would be a love triangle in this. I can't believe they haven't told the rest of the crew, but Willa just revealed 'the secret' to Fable, lol.
I don't like Saint because he abandoned Fable and everything, but I don't think he's the worst. He just paid 800 coins for a necklace which means he does have a heart.
Zola is a lot worse, I hope they get their revenge. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ To be honest, I’m a bit surprised the rest of the crew hasn’t guessed, but no matter. And yah, she revealed that way too easily, doesn’t seem like too much of a secret.

See, I just find Saint to be interesting. What could have caused him to possibly leave his only child alone on a cutthroat island, but kept him looking after her? Clearly he cares about her, so he could be trying to protect her from something. Or of course, he could just be a terrible parent, but I’m going with him having good intentions (hide spoiler)]
