Andy | 2124 comments If I search for my name, I only find a half dozen threads, and searches for authors like Asimov only find one thread instead of dozens.

Dee (austhokie) | 638 comments i see all your comments when you go members, search your name then click on comments

if you just search discussion posts it only pulls up if yuor name has been mentioned in a thread, but not as a poster

Andy | 2124 comments My comment history shows this thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Searching for "Philip Dick" which is in that thread finds nothing.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 255 comments Yeah I have this problem in other groups. It only goes back the past few days, if even that, when I know for a fact the comments haven't been deleted and I've mentioned it more than just a few times

This is a recent problem for me. A few weeks ago, I could find old threads by searching. There was a similar glitch a few years ago that was resolved - I'd be able to find the discussion of that glitch, if the search engine worked...

Seems like they're working on it? (Reindexing the search function.) I just searched on a very common word and got about 70 results, the oldest one was dated July 2.

If it were working properly the search would come up with thousands of results. But just a few days ago it wasn't working at all, it would have come up with 0 results. So, some progress.

That's good news. Thanks.

Here's a workaround solution:

Google Search of our Group:
site:goodreads.com "What's the Name of That Book???" [type your keywords...]

Andy | 2124 comments Thanks. That worked just fine.

Andy | 2124 comments The search function seems to be working again. Thanks all.

That's a relief.

Rainbowheart | 28531 comments The main Goodreads search engine is broken again. :(

It's only affecting searches for some titles, not others. Luckily the search engine for this group is still working.

SamSpayedPI | 2300 comments I'd been having trouble with the "add book/author" function, but it seems to be better this morning.

Edit: nope, not better. On again, off again.

Like Emily (below), I found copy-and-pasting the book's ISBN (ID number) into the "add book/author" box helped when entering title-and-author doesn't automatically display book results. (One way to get the ISBN is to search for the book on Amazon, then scroll down and you'll find the number under "Product Details" - or "Product Information" on the mobile website.)

Note: Also, if the book title is long, try searching for just the first/main part of the title. Removing the series name might help as well.

Rainbowheart | 28531 comments For some reason, author searches are still working, so I've been going to the author page, finding the book, and pasting the ISBN for the default edition.

More time consuming, but a good workaround for now.
