What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

i've read this book a while ago,it's about a girl who lived in a world where the military can recruit children, she had two other brothers but her father gave her up. she meets with a another girl in training, who has a dream of being part of an elite group in the military called dragons something , i can't remember exactly, she then decides to work with her friend to reach that dream. and they reach it together that's as far as I read. the main characters name is Sapir something, ican't remember. if I remember correctly the book is a military scifi. on the cover of the book is a woman in a black skin tight suit.

A while ago meaning 2 years? 10 years? 30 years?

What format did you read the book in? Where did you find it? How did you find it?

I don't know what the book is, but it sounds really good. When you find out what it is I'd like to read it.

It was a gift , lost it when I moved to college. also I cant ask the person who gave it to me, they said they picked it at random and cant remember.

Was this a hardcover, or paperback? What year did you read it? Would you say it was adult fiction, or something aimed at young adults/teenagers?

I read it mid 2014,Im not sure if its adult fiction or YA.
the early chapters were about her training period in the
academy, then the rest were about missions she was sent to, diffrent planets, it felt like a field report.

I found it because the OP remembered the character name. So a search for

"science fiction" military training Sapir

brought up a bunch of Sapir-Whorf stuff, but still on the first page I did find a review of this book. So, good job OP!
