Heard so many mixed things about this book! Hope it doesn't disappoint. Have you read any of her other works? I liked !

Yeah I have, I've read lot of her book, The Curse Worker series , The Iron Trial , and Her Modern Faerie Tales series .

Shes one of my favorite authors, I really like Coldest girl in Coldtown too! I've heard some mixed things too I hope its good because I liked her Modern Faerie Tales series which is also about fairies.

I've also read lots of her books - she is one of my favourite authors. The book I like most would have to be White Cat.

Can't wait to start the Darkest Part of the Forest!

I really liked White Cat too, I liked it a lot more then Red Glove and Black Heart. What about you? My favorite book by her is between Tithe and Coldest Girl in Coldtown.

I have started now, about 10% in. Liking it so far. I am impressed by the diversity so far, seems like in every other book people are straight by default but with Holly Black's latest books there has been a lot of lgbt representation and it makes me really happy!

I agree, and I think she makes them interesting too! I already finished it I had a hard time putting it down.

I have an hour and a half train journey ahead of me so I am hoping to get stuck into the book during that and finish tonight :-D

That's a long train ride! I hope so I thought it was really good!

I didn't get as much read as I would have liked on the train, mostly because screaming babies are not conducive to reading (even if they are cute when they are not crying). I had to put the book down eventually :( I'm almost 30% in now and (view spoiler)[ I damn near teared up when the dog died even though it was only like a paragraph. I just read Long Lankin and the dog dies in that too and it's like whyyyyyyyyy :( :( :( (hide spoiler)]

Agreed haha. Somehow though 9/10 times I get stuck in the carriage with a baby. Sucks a lot!

50% in and really, really liking it so far - possibly more than I enjoyed The Coldest Girl in Coldtown (even though I loved that one too). Really hoping (view spoiler)[Jack is totally innocent (hide spoiler)]

That's sucks, that;s why I never travel without music, it helps block out the noise of the world.

I feel that Holly Black used the same formula that she used when writing Coldest Girl in Coldtown, (view spoiler)[I mean they both start a party and the main characters both are badass (hide spoiler)] I have to think about which one I like more, it's a difficult question.

I guess this author is just not for me, though I'll give this book until 15% to convince me

no, I read her The Coldest Girl in Coldtown

I just read the first chapter and I think it's pretty good so far but definitely a lot different to what I thought it would be. I hope it doesn't centre to much around that group of people. Like Suneha said, I don't really want to read a teen drama.

I read that one too and I thought it was pretty good. :)

I gave it three stars at the time, but looking back, I can't really figure out why.

I gave it four stars but apart from the twist at the end I can't really remember what happens, haha.

Her writing style is a little different, I really didn't like her short story in My True Love Gave to Me. Maybe her quality varies.

Oh god, this book seems interesting but I'm not able to push forward. I guess I'm stuck in a reading slump again. It sucks because I just got out of it! I can't get stuck again!

Up to chapter five (view spoiler)[ So Hazel got the 'prince' out, I wonder how. I would be terrified if I woke up with glass and mud all over me, I can't believe she's trying to act normal. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter eight, (view spoiler)[ Ahhh, the kissing thing makes much more sense now. It's so badass that Hazel used to hunt those creatures and when she was a child too! It's sad her dog was murdered trying to protect her. I can't wait for them to find the Prince. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 7 (view spoiler)[So that's why Hazel kisses so many boys? I'm sorry but that is not a good enough explanation to simply break hearts (hide spoiler)]

I'm really not liking this book. Don't know if it's me or the book. I might give up soon if it doesn't get better.

Chapter 9 (view spoiler)[Wow, Severin turned out to be our typical douchebag. I really don't get this author's obsession with Hazel kissing every fucking guy she meets! And why is lying to her brother?! It's really unnecessarry. Ughhhhhhh (hide spoiler)]

I'm sorry Amy but this book is just not for me. I'm giving up :/

Just started hoping to like it better than most people seem to. Lol. We'll see.

That's okay Suneha! It is a little over the top detailed with fairy folklore but it is growing on me!

I think I might prefer this one to The Coldest Girl in Coldtown actually.

I just finished and I really enjoyed it! :)

I think I'm starting to like it now. Idk why but it's been a little bit of a struggle to get into this even though the story is intriguing to me..

hazel and Ben have horrible parents. ..

Omg guys I loved it! Those of you who gave up should give it another chance because I wasn't sure at first but ended up loving it!
