Historical Romance Book Club discussion

This challenge is meant to help you climb your TBR Mountain and get those books finally read.



This will be a quarterly challenge, with a new theme each quarter. This year our fourth theme will be COLORS because the colors as our flowers still bloom but our trees are changing here is inspiring me (and also I saved this idea from Joanna)! I like to think we know by now that you should pick what inspires you-one color? Beautiful cover because of colors? Colors in the title? Pastels? An artist MC? Have at it.

HOW IT WORKS:
1) The first poster will post 5 book titles that they pick from their TBR shelf.

2) The next poster will choose 2 books from the first poster's titles and choose 5 book titles off their own TBR. The first poster will then choose to read at least 1 of the 2 books chosen.

3) The third poster will choose 2 from the second posters list .... and so on.

4) Each participant will have the entire quarter to read their book(s), post their rating and review. And tell us what you think of your book in this thread.

5) You are not limited to 1 time. You can return to select and post more options as often as it suits you.

I can't believe you have 3 on your shelf that I've read.

I finished both my picks for Q4.

The Bloom by Elizabeth A. Lance was a quick novella. It was sweet and easy to read. I recommend if you like light clean novellas.

For the Love of a Gracious Duke by Bridget Barton had a unique and enticing concept, but the execution didn't work. It started out well enough but drug on and on. I ended up giving it 2 stars.

I pick the Magpie Lord (because it's a great listen!)
& My Dearest Enemy bc I enjoyed it and it's epistolary in part.

Tough choice, I'm reading At Your Pleasure now & I love purple, but that's what I'm going with.

I read my first Q4 book and gave it 3.5 Stars, rounded up. Aside from a vacillating heroine, I really enjoyed it and now I'm looking forward to the November BOTM with Cameron MacKenzie's book.

I can understand, Darbella. I have a love/hate relationship with angst and whew!, the angst in this was something else. I had wanted to read it forever and had even purchased the audio a couple years back. Just needed that extra push. If I had read vs. listened, I don't think I would have interpreted the material like the narrator did. I feel like Nicholas Boulton elevated the story for me. Now, I know why he is so well-loved in audios.

I could see myself reading it again at some point.

I have just finished reading my second book by Brenda Joyce. I really loved this book. It had over 500 pages, which put me off reading it. I am so glad It was picked for me. I will be keeping this book to read again at some point.

I love this--I'm still working on my first and though I really like it it is slow going. And I really wanted to get through all of them, lol!

I just added this series to my tbr about a month ago and obviously, like you, have to start with book 1. Haha.

So many Q4 books!

I like this challenge. It gets you to read books you have had on your shelf for year’s . My best read this year, came from this challenge.

I love this one too. Takes most of the decision out of your hands! Gives some guidelines.

I'm open to suggestions for our Q1 topic, I really really loved this one with covers but am up for anything.
Let me know if you've had thoughts! Otherwise I'll pick something randomly as I usually do.

Duke , Marquess, Earl. Viscount, Duchess, Marchioness, Countess. Viscountess.

Not going to lie, this gives me an idea. Lol.

I finally finished my first for this challenge:
The Lotus Palace, 4 stars. Its would be 4.5 but for its meh mystery that really just threw the pacing & pleasure off due me.

On to my second choice.

Oh boy did that one do me in! Finished with 2 weeks left so might read Vincy's 3rd for kicks or read the Carla Kelly!

I only read one of the two, but I will get to the KJ Charles soon...I did really enjoy My Dearest Enemy, and am thankful for the many recommendations I got for it :-)
