As much as I feel bad for Evadne, nothing can compare to what Halcyon is going through! I don't know how she's going to get out of this. She is indeed an amazing hoplite to be able to endure this much without breaking. I still do not understand Straton. He sees Hal as a daughter... so I'm guessing he may have a plan to free her from her sentence?

Also, I know it was a secret mission and everything, but he was really going to let his wife think that her son was murdered Hal? At least Hal, poisoning served to bring the truth out.

Eva is very sweet and I love her relationship with Hal more on every page, but I really think that the "romance" between Damon is unnecessary. They know each other for something like two weeks and it already looks like their relationship is too strong for such a short time. Don't get me wrong, they cute but... I think that having him as only a friend could've been more interesting.

Macarius is an ass, I hate him so much! I hope Hal gets to be the one to finish him, considering everything he put her through.

Yeah poor Hal, she’s going through so much and that irritating mage definitely deserves to die by Hal’s hand! I can’t believe he just invaded her mind and tried to trick Eva... thank god Eva picked up on it!

I also love Eva’s relationship with Hal, and though I agree that the romance with Damon is a bit sudden and all, I still think they’re cute. I don’t know if they really have that much chemistry though.... I guess we’ll see how they progress.

And ahhh I’m so annoyed they lost the crown! I can’t believe they went through all that only to get the crown stolen... can’t wait to read the next section!
