Quinn Maybrook just wants to make it until graduation. She might not make it to morning.

Quinn and her father moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs to find a fresh start. But ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half. On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as quick as they can.

Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It’s a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown in a pork-pie hat, goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now.

Can I join in on yall's buddy read, I started this on October 9th, but I took a break and want to get back in it the next couple of days?

Of course. I’m hoping to finish it off this weekend if only I put down my phone and pick it up lol

I had to put it down to do work, and sort of forgot it, then realized I forgot what happened so I am probably going to restart it tomorrow.

I'm currently working on it too!
Looks like the chapters are pretty long! We have 30 chapters + epilogue & prologue

I plan to come back every 8 chapters or so......

I’ll try and do the same, so far I’ve only made it through the epilogue and part of chapter one. Can’t stop playing games on my iPad lol. Wish the audio wasn’t so expensive.

Ch 7 (view spoiler)[Ok so we have our first killing....the mayor. Poor guy, seemed more level headed than the crazed people he left in the hall. They really have it out for the teens. I can see why but who knows what they plan to do. Can’t believe after Coles sister died they even still film and do pranks anymore at all. Quinn should probably distance herself from them obviously but I guess that’s not going to happen lol So far so good, can’t wait to see where the story goes, I imagine things are about to get a lot more bloody. Ch 14 (view spoiler)[Definitely getting 80s slasher movie vibes and I’m all for it. Who could the killer be, there quite a few contenders especially if it’s just a towns member or multiple towns people.?? Also soooooo glad Quinns dad isn't dead... yet. Really hope he stays ok, I’m more worried about him than anyone lol. (hide spoiler)]

I am listening to the audio book and fell asleep to it, so I don't fully know what is going on or what chapter I left off on. So far it is good.

Ch 25 (view spoiler)[Omg how messed up Ronnie and Matt were in on it, now wonder they put on the clown uniforms. These people are nuts trying to justify the killing of most of the kids in town smh. Sure because you’re all much better ppl 😳 Not sure if Quinn’s going to be able to save the day, there are so many of them. (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[I just knew Rust was alive, didn’t see him and Cole hooking up at all. That came out of left field. Also the had a heart attack when Quinn’s dad donned the costume, I knew she was going to end up shooting him, thank goodness the gun was empty.
Still can’t believe Matt and Ronnie. But I bet they were just jealous being second best behind and Cole and Janet. Doubt they would have made it out after this, bet the sheriff was going to kill them anyways. They were good leverage to help keep cole safe and cornered. Just hope Cole is smart now he has money and hires security because his dad won’t give up. Also umm not sure how safe I feel with Quinn’s dad running for mayor. I mean the last guy had good intentions too and look what happened to him 😲 Really good gory slasher read, totally movie material! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 7

Yes(view spoiler)[ the first murder, the mayor, sounded pretty gruesome! Yikes!
but the clown costume, I wonder who it is. Someone mad with how he handled the founding father's fair or.....one of the kids.....hmmmm (hide spoiler)]

ooooor is it Cole's dad? I think, because the mayor was first, it could be either of the two but definitely more than one. I hate to think Rust might be a part of it...but he was there rather conveniently....ugh. (hide spoiler)]

Glad you loved this too. I really enjoyed it as well and loved that it wasn't completely predictable. (view spoiler)[I thought for sure for a while it was only one killer but nope it's like 20% of the dang town and many of the participants are there killing their own children or stepchildren in Janet's case, like wtf.

I had a feeling somehow Rust was alive but I really wasn't sure until the end if he would save the day or ruin it. Did not see him and Cole coming at all, like I never got that vibe about either one of them but at least this horrible event brought them together.

Also.... really, I mean is her dad becoming mayor really a smart thing? I can't believe he wants to do that after what happened to the last guy who also had good intentions. Not to mention I can't believe she convinced her dad to stay in town, I'd move across the country. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 7 The characters of this town is interesting, I am not sure why this is, but it is. I like the small town feel that they have and how it creates and environment in its own.

I never could get into the story very well I tried multiple times to pick up this book, never would hold my attention. I was reading it through the audiobook version later after some time I might try again with the physical edition. The story seemed like it might be something that is like many of my favorites never the less I enjoyed the section of book that I did read.

So excitied to get started on this one. It's been on my TBR for a while now. Planning on reading the first chapter tonight.

Ch 1-7 (view spoiler)[ It seems like the teens are basically doing what teens do, being dumb and pulling pranks. Though you think they'd stop after Cole's sister died.

I don't really understand why the adults seem to hate the kids so much. Yes they're irritating but they truly seem to hate the teens.

I feel bad for the mayor getting killed. He was trying to keep the others a bit calm but instead got ousted and then immediately killed. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1 - 7 (view spoiler)[I agree that so far it seems like the teens are just being teens. I'm guessing the death of his sister is why Cole seems hesitantto really be a part of the group with the pranks now. Good opening so far though. Really liking the creepy clown faced factory right behind Quinn's new house. Is it too early to guess that Cole could be the killer clown who turns up in the cornfield? (hide spoiler)]

Ch 8-15 (view spoiler)[ Now things are getting crazy! I'm glad her dad is okay and I hope he gets out of the silo.

It seems like the adults have been planning this for a while. Why would they kill the previous doctor though? (hide spoiler)]

Ch 16-22 (view spoiler)[ What a stupid lady, telling the doctor saving your life that you hope his daughter gets murdered. I hope he doesn't help her, I'd let her bleed out.

They definitely can't trust the sheriff, he's the driving force behind all of this (hide spoiler)]

32%(view spoiler)[I am liking this book so far the town Quinn and her Dad moved to seems very strange so many things seem off at the moment. I like the characters so far especially Quinn she is a interesting character moving somewhere else to get away from things associated with her Mother's death she ends up in a really strange town where some bad things have happened. The plot is interesting if a bit strange looking forward to reading more. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 23-End (view spoiler)[ So much of the town is dead wow. It wasn't really a mystery who the bad guys were, though I was surprised that two of Cole's friends turned on him.

The biggest twist for me was Rust and Cole getting together but I thought it was super cute.

Sucks that Cole's dad is still out there and might come back for him. (hide spoiler)]

58%(view spoiler)[This book is great and just like a slasher film something I would not watch but I can read it just fine. I really like Quinn although right she finds herself in a terrible situation and is trying to not die at the moment. The plot is insane Quinn and her Dad came to the wrong town at the absolutely wrong time. So characters are dying like flies right now and I am on the edge of my seat wanting to read more. 88%(view spoiler)[I love this book it is amazing fast paced and action packed it is so well written. I love Quinn and Cole also Rust all three of them have been fighting as hard as possible to survive. I love the plot it just keeps getting better more people have died a couple betray the rest Cole gets caught Rust left behind with Quinn being caught as well she waited a while fought to escape and ended up killing both Matt and Ronnie and leaves we go back to her Dad who is on his way to find Quinn and hopes she is safe. 100%(view spoiler)[ This book was so good looking forward to the sequel hope none of the characters I liked die. I still love the characters especially Quinn, Cole and Rust all them were great characters it shows how a person really is when there is a terrible crisis. I loved the plot at this point we are at the final showdown they all fight so hard and win and are not the same afterwards no one would be this book was amazing loved it so much. (hide spoiler)]

I also wasn't expecting Quinn's dad to get a visit. Looks like Quinn is getting some unwanted attention. With he murder of the old doctor its clear the killed seems to definitely be after Quinn after going through all the trouble to get her to town. Really liked the gross rat escape from the previous doctor's mouth. Very cringe worthy!Looks like it's time for the party in the cornfield. This should hopefully be where things get good! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13 - 17 (view spoiler)[Loving the bow and arrow idea for the killer clown. Much easier than having to get up close with his victims with a knife. 
Janet - she's one tough girl for sure. I wonder if she'll make it to the ending without losing too much blood. 
Also the science teacher? I didn't see that coming. It does make sense why he would target Janet though as he clearly didn't like her and her group.

Chapter 18 - end (view spoiler)[Just finished it off and surprised at how it turned out is an understatement! I definitely wasn't expecting so many of the town's adults to be involved. Did anyone else find Cole's dad reason for killing his own son a bit overdramatic? I mean it wasn't really Cole's fault with how his sister died. Overall though I really liked this one. Lots of killer clown action with a surprise killer reveal(s) i didn't expect! Very much looking forward to the next book which I heard is in the making. (hide spoiler)]
