message 6: by Aliyah ♡ (new)

Aliyah ♡ (aliyahhii) Ahhh I won’t lie guys, I’m kind of nervous about the whole series. I have a feeling it will be one huge mixture of pain, happiness and sleep deprivation 😂

message 7: by Aahana (new)

Aahana | 695 comments Mod
That's true :)
It's huge.... and it's messy.... but it's brilliant.

But it's so worth it! And ngl if you don't like it keep that opinion to yourself because saying you don't like her most popular series in SJM's fan club is basically all for death xD

message 11: by Aliyah ♡ (new)

Aliyah ♡ (aliyahhii) Ahhhhh. TOG gives me vampire diaries vibes not that it’s supernatural or whatever but it seems like it has the same level of drama and messiness maybe? I actually think I’ll like it but I need to make sure I’m emotionally invested before I go into it 😭.

message 12: by Aliyah ♡ (new)

Aliyah ♡ (aliyahhii) Also I know what you mean! I’ve encountered a lot of SJM fans and when I say I haven’t read her books they look at me like I’m crazy haha

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

So If I want to start with her books should I start with ToG or ACOTAR or crescent city? I don't know what to do u.u

message 25: by Aahana (new)

Aahana | 695 comments Mod
The only one I have read is Throne of Glass, and it's my fav! It's also considered her least... mature book, if you know what I mean. Start with it, it'll be a good way to get the gist of her writing style (spoiler alert - it's incredible <3)!

message 26: by Z (new)

Z I started with ACOTAR and i absolutely love it. I've read it a million times, then i read Throne of glass and then i read her most recent book.

ACOTAR is much shorter there are only 3 main books, a small novela and then she is coming out with another book next year.

Throne of glass there are 6 books, each book gets longer and longer hahah

message 27: by Z (new)

Z I started with ACOTAR because i felt a little overwhelmed with the 6 books. So i thought the shorter series would be better for me. But it's up to you!

Do you want to read about the assassin Caleana Sardothein? OR
Feyre the girl who killed a wolf and is now forced to go to the fae lands? OR
Bryce Quinlan, whose best friend got murdered and now has to find the killer?

Also Aahana, you've never read ACOTAR?! :0

message 29: by Aahana (new)

Aahana | 695 comments Mod
Nope 😶

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

the thing is the three series sound so good I can't decide one to start with hahaha but maybe I will start with acotar (since I have the 2 first books) and maybe then read ToG

message 31: by Aliyah ♡ (new)

Aliyah ♡ (aliyahhii) Valentina, that’s what I’m doing! I’ve read ACOTAR already and it was really good. Im going to finish the series and read TOG as well.

message 32: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments I found ACOTAR to be more driven forward by characters you deeply connect with, while TOG is a lot more of plot and action if that helps you choose where to start. Still waiting for HOEAB to arrive from the library lol!

message 33: by Brooke (new)

Brooke (bwhite23) | 3 comments I read ACOTAR first (Literally all 4 books within 5 days) I currently have Crescent city on my shelf but I haven't started it yet. Eventually I plan on buying TOG to read too.

message 34: by Anushka (new)

Anushka (bookish_swiftie) | 4 comments Hey Aahana, thanks a lot for the invite but I haven't read any of SJM's books till now( although they have been on my list for quite some time). I am thinking of getting a book of hers on Christmas or maybe on my birthday which is also coming up. But I am confused whether to start with Throne of Glass or with A Court Of Thorns and Roses.

message 35: by Aahana (new)

Aahana | 695 comments Mod
Hey Anushka! You're welcome, and thank you for joining!
I haven't read ACOTAR, so I don't really think I am the best person to ask that, but ToG is incredible. Also, ToG is considered her least mature book (in terms of erotica, swearing and other such stuff) so you should probably start out with that. But honestly, all her books are incredible, it all starts with picking up one of them :D

message 36: by Maya (new)

Maya Sternberg I read ACOTAR first and I loved it, it was my favorite series by far. I just finished Tog and I am planning on reading Crescent City eventually.

message 37: by Fey (new)

Fey (feyssatastic) | 9 comments Glad you loving it! It would be more fun when you start read ACOMAF ;)

message 38: by Erin (new)

Erin I've read the first five books of ToG and kinda gave up on the sixth one (Tower of Dawn) cuz i really didn't like it. I'm probably gonna stay the series again over winter break

I got my copy of Crescent City ready to go and I'll probably start that today

I'll start ACOTAR as soon as I can. (I bought it and now it's just sitting on my shelf)

message 39: by izzy 📚 (new)

izzy 📚 (highcourtofelfhame) Im new lol. I have read ACOTAR - ACOWAR (waiting for my friend to finish it before reading ACOFAS) and i am 60% through Crown Of Midnight. Also read Crescent City which is a must read if u havent already.

Haha you’re in for a ride with TOG

message 41: by kitana (new)

kitana (kitanamelanie) | 5 comments So I heard that there's a better order to read the throne of glass series. Does anyone have recommendations for something different or should I read it straight through?

message 42: by Aahana (new)

Aahana | 695 comments Mod
There is a thread in the "sjm readathons" folder, called "throne of glass readathon". If you check that, in the first post, that order is mentioned!

message 43: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 12 comments I’m currently on A Court of War and Ruin in the ACOTAR series and I just bought the Throne of Glass series. I’ve heard mixed feedback, but should I start the ToG series with Assassin’s Blade or Throne of Glass? Would reading Assassin’s Blade first spoil the series?

☀︎El In Oz☀︎ (elinoz) | 724 comments Mod
Ahh I thought I responded to this but ig not..

Start with The Assassin’s Blade! It’s a prequel so no spoilers, to gives insight into Celaena’s character, introduces you to the world very well and you see loads of cool characters that may or may not pop up later, AND it tells you how Celaena gets to where she is T the beginning of TOG. So I say start with TAB!
Happy reading! :)

message 47: by Myriam (new)

Myriam | 2 comments Hi everyone!! I just finished the ACOTAR series and now I don’t know what to do with my life, the last book was SO good 🥲 I read the first Throne of Glass book but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the ACOTAR books (even though I still liked it a lot). Apparently the second book in the throne of glass series is better than the first? Can anyone who read the series tell me if they enjoyed it as much as ACOTAR series? Thankyou!!!

message 48: by Aahana (new)

Aahana | 695 comments Mod
Throne of Glass book 1 is pretty ok, ik! It's just like any other ya book, with the super sassy protagonist and love triangle and all. But trust me, the series grows sooo much ahead. By the time you're at the last book, you're like "oh gosh is this still the same series?? 😭"

message 49: by Myriam (new)

Myriam | 2 comments Oh cool I’ll for sure read them!! Thankyou ☺️

message 50: by Amy (new)

Amy Lee | 3 comments Me, me, pick me! I'm a newbie!

I'm only on Book 2 of ACOTAR and have the TOG series waiting very patiently in my kindle. I couldn't pass up that Amazon deal from a couple weeks ago...all books for like $8 or something!?

My first impressions are that the books start off slowly, but once they pick up...they really pick up! I love how everything is tying in together and how characters are being fleshed out.

I'm definitely a SJM fan after just one book!
