I think I have Breasts and Eggs on hold at the library, they do this awesome thing where I can put it off but keep my place, so I'd love to read it with you next year

I'm good with January or February, Hannah, because I will be reading as much as possible to try and finish my 2020 reading challenge. I agree that if anyone else decides to read with us we can take their timeline input into consideration.

alignment on the start date to occur on the discussion thread.

I also really enjoyed Love Medicine and Future Home of the Living God. This is a bit different for her as it is science fiction/dystopian. I have also read Tales of Burning Love. I think Love Medicine and TOBL are part of a 5-book series, but again, it is the characters that carry over, not the plot. I think any one of her books would be a great buddy read!

If so I will add you too the chat on instagram!

Here's the beginning of the Publishers Weekly blurb:
Kim’s dreamy, intense debut is both a sure-footed historical account of the Korean struggle for independence from Japan and the emotionally fraught story of several people whose lives are inextricably tied together. ..
I'm probably looking at February or March, but I don't plan my reading year, so if you want to read it later, just name the relative time.

This sounds like a great read! I'm #10 in my library queue for one copy that is still on order, so I'm guessing Feb. or March is likely for me too.

I have an arc of this from Edelweiss, so have to get through it before then, but look forward to comparing notes.

I stand corrected, the ebook has already been released this week and my library has a copy. Still it looks as though we won't be reading it until February anyway

Carol, is it okay for me to start a new thread for this book? Or do you prefer to start it?

Story - feel free to start your own thread. I might join on this read, too.

That would be great!

Thanks, Kate for joining, and good idea! I´m open to any month, so if nobody proposes otherwise perhaps January?

Thanks, Kate for joining, and g..."
I'd love to join a buddy read for this. January would work well for me.

Thanks Kate and Liesl for joining, and others are also welcome! :)

Is anyone else interested in reading and discussing either?
@alwynne, in terms of timing, are you thinking March or sooner? I’m good with mid-Feb or mid-March, would like to offset our read from the scheduled group reads and not inadvertently deplete participation, but that’s just me. What do you think?
NEW: Kate’s in, for Nada.
All are welcome …

I’m also interested in Medea if we can read it in March or April. I’ve never read any Christa Wolf and it’s an ideal length :)

I'd be interested in Medea, and I am flexible on the start date.

Yay!

Does mid- March work for you, tentatively?

Sure does. If anyone else wants to join and has a preference I will happily defer on a timeframe.

Fantastic, Sophie.

@Anita - are you still interested in a buddy read of Medea? 208 pages. I'm sure I should re-read the source material first, but I probably won't. I'm thinking mid-March, maybe, and getting past March 1 group reads here and IRL, but later in the year is fine, too.

I’m also interested in Medea if we can read it..."
Yes, i will also probably be a neglectful reader and not read source material. Mid march sounds fine.

Here's our 2021 "Buddy Reads Nominations" thread!
Post the book you want to read here, and it's likely that there will be someone who will want to read it with you. This will be an ongoing thread of proposals, responses and agreements on timing. All it takes is two members to agree to read and discuss a book, and align on timing of when it starts, and we'll set up a thread for that discussion. Any member is free to join in a buddy read once it's launched.
