Play Book Tag discussion

Of all the new authors I discovered this year, Becky Chambers is one of my favorites. This book doesn't have the same level of drama as her other books, but I enjoyed it. This is a sci-fi book about scientists on a mission to learn about other planets in the universe. I liked all the nerdy details about their life on the ship, including the detailed process of coming out of a years' long sleep. The scientists on this ship gave their whole adult lives to this mission, knowing that their loved ones may be gone by the time they get home, IF they ever get home. The daily work is rather mundane, but the overall mission is extraordinary. I liked all the characters, especially Ariadne, and I liked the fluidity of their relationships. I liked their commitment to scientific integrity even when they face trouble and uncertainty. As soon as I finished this book, I started listening to one of her books that I already read (this year). I would have been happy to continue with it if I didn't have a huge pile of new books to read.
