Charity (charityross) I’ve been asked to set up a thread for some members who are wanting to read/discuss A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth in January 2021. Anyone interested may discuss the book here.

Angie | 150 comments Happy New Year, everyone!

I'll start with A Suitable Boy shortly. Who else is reading it?

Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) | 629 comments I agreed to read this as well, but I don't have a copy with me, and won't be home until the last of January. Sorry! I will catch up with you then--as long as it is, you may still be reading it by then

Camay | 2 comments An audiobook version of this is due out in February. I think I will try listening.

No worries Bryan! I for one will most definitely still be reading. ;-)

Good to know! I do own a copy, but the print is so small I'll be happy to supplement it with audio.

Stacey (staceymcdee) | 2 comments I am a long time follower of this list but this is my first time posting. I have been working through this list since 2008, but read so much slower than all of you that I have not posted. Reading 10 in a year is great for me (I read 9 in 2020). I thought reading such a daunting book while some of you are as well would motivate me to get through it, so I am reading along. We will see how many times I can renew this from the library. I am done with part 1 and really enjoying it so far.

Angie | 150 comments Welcome Stacey! It is a pleasure to have you join us in reading 'A Suitable Boy.'
We made a rough plan of reading it in January-March, but there is absolutely no pressure to stick to that schedule, everyone should be able to read at their own pace. To be honest, I myself haven't gotten very far yet...
Fingers crossed for lots of renews and happy reading!

Finally! I have AD issues and as much as I love reading I have found it easier for me to listen to audio books. I wanted to read this for so long and started it so many times but feel like I am spinning my wheels. I have been watching the BBC mini-series hoping this would help me with keeping things straight, after all, I made it through War and Peace using a combination of Audio, Cliff Notes, and the 1968 8-hour Russian movie. Worth every moment. Looking forward to the release!!

Ann A (readerann) | 105 comments I take it back. It's not the full book - just a BBC dramatization.

Stacey (staceymcdee) | 2 comments I finished this book, and my arms are definitely stronger from carrying this giant book around for almost 3 months!!! I really enjoyed this book, and enjoyed learning so much about India and Indian culture.
Now I need to focus on some shorter books to make some progress on the list this year.
