Heck, I'll start it off. I'm a huge fan of this series, but this is my least favorite book of the series. Lachlain was just too overbearing, and as a result it took quite a while for me to warm to him. I loved the whole werewolf falling in love with a vampire angle though. And we get introduced the Nucking Futs Nix, which is brilliant.

I had not seen anyone post and I was going to hi-jack the thread and talk about our favorite vamp themed series, but sense its a read til the end thread it might be a few days before anyone posts anyway.

In my opinion, the rest of the series is MUCH better. Honestly, you could just skip the 1st book and you wouldn't really be lost.

I'm currently annoyed that this month's release in the series is in hardback. Grr...

Ohhh well...guess I wouldn't be reading that one till next year! But I will try to give the rest of the series a try and not get toooo jaded towards this author

Definitely try another book in the series though Joelle, I promise they improve. =)
I haven't started this yet but you guys are making me not want to LOL
I will probably get to it after a couple of my other monthly books for this month hehe

However, I was intrigued enough to continue reading, and I love the other books.

I am finally going to be getting to this book, yes I know I am VERY late. I had things come up preventing me from reading as much.
I will chime in once I get a feel for the book :D

I did not like Lachlain much either.
I started reading this book and then was disheartened by no story but plenty of sex talk.
I don't know whats wrong with me.. I used to LOVE tons of sex in my books.. and now when the topic is brought up I cringe and just want to get back to the plot.
I put this book down because it bothered me so bad that I didnt even get to know what the plot/story was before the sex crap started happening.
You know, the "Me man *grunt grunt* - you woman *grunt grunt* - you mine *grunt*".
Definitely not up my alley and I am highly disappointed because I have the whole series purchased because they came highly recommended :(

Lol I understand I think its when your over 25 you just go yeah sex is great, but where is the plot. And the men better realize woman are strong and independent. lol

I totally understand Tricia I myself used to feel let down if I read a book with no sex scene now its the total opposite, too much sex not even plot I am totally disheartened.
Although after six kids and a still very active sex life you would think I would enjoy the books anyway. As Katt said I think it has alot to do with your maturity level at the time of reading the book. Sex everyday in my life I NEED that; Sex on every page of 'my" romance DON't Need that!
Don't get me wrong ladies, I LOVE a good sex scene. I love the Anita Blake series if that tells you anything.
But I cant just open up a book and the first 3 pages be about sex..
I mean give me a few damn chapters before you throw it at me at least!! lol
I think the reason I love the sex so much in the Anita book is that I had 4 whole books of story and character building. And thats what I need to have first...
I can't stand the stories where two people just happen to fall in bed together without reason.
If I wanted porn I would read erotica hehe (which I do from time to time)

I think the biggest hurdle was probably that she didn't have the yearning for him like he had for her (just thinking of Wrath and Beth of the BDB) - he kind of forced her to and then it was kind of like watching Star Trek in that "oh I have to start wrapping this up" so.... she does want him, she is now strong, they love each other the end... plus the whole who is her father was SO obvious, although great fight scene.
I don't know I had a much better feeling at the end of the book than in the beginning and middle, but I have to say without the endorsements here, not sure I'd pick up another one - of course if I did see anything about "Nucking Futs Nix" I absolutely would!!! My god she was just fantastic - I actually read aloud one line of hers to my husband it was so great...
So just an OK book, not one of the greats, but worth it for a decent discussion...
I have heard the rest are so much better. So if you even remotely liked this one you should like the rest of them much more. At least from what I have heard about this series.

A Hunger Like No Other was definitely my list favorite, b/c of Lachlains not very subtle walk on the border between a dominant manly man and a flat out rapist. i mean, he practically forced her at times! and the most annoying part was that after he found out she was a virgin he was sorry for how he treated her BECAUSE SHE WAS UNTUCHED!!! not b/c you just cant force a woman, but b/c he forced himself on a #$%@!@# VIRGIN! gggrrrrr...
but i kept reading and it got better and better. i like the way she keeps going back and foreword on the time line so all the books are happening approximately at the same time.
Cade and Rydstrom are my fav BTW, but mostly Sabine. she is awesome!
Yeah thats why I put the book down. I could tell in the first few pages what sort of man he was and I didnt like it at all.
If I do decide to read the series its going to be with book 2. I really have an issue with Alpha males and their grunty bullshit so its one of the main reasons this book didn't appeal to me.
There are SO many good books out there waiting to be read.. and I didnt see wasting the time with a book like this one.

If I didn't persevere after reading A Hunger Like No Other, I would have missed out on a series that developed into a favorite. I recommend that you read the 2nd book first before abandoning IAD.
And yes, Nix is just hilarious.

..."
If you have enough of alpha males, then you will probably like the next IAD book after A Hunger Like No Other.
The hero Sebastian is pretty beta in my opinion, and is quite adorable. You should check him out. He might change your mind about the series...*grins*
I definately will Yz :) I didn't plan to completely do away with the whole series.. I actually have all of the books at home already! lol
So I have to read them right?! /giggles
I am working on other books though, since right now I am on a non-romance kick.
