The goal is to focus your reading on literary classics.
Read a classic that fits the description of a square. You may NOT count the same book twice for different categories in this challenge. Each book can be applied to only one square, even if it fulfills the requirements of multiple squares. All books read to mark off squares must be finished in 2021.
Challenge Levels:
Level One Bingo
Four Corners: Mark off the four outside corners of the Bingo board.
OR
Five-in-a-Row: Mark off five squares in a row. This can be done horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Level Two Bingo
Small Box: Mark off all the 9 inner squares of the board (including the free square), leaving blank the 16 outside border squares.
Level Three Bingo
Outside Box: Mark off all 16 of the outer squares, leaving blank the 9 inner squares.
Level Four Bingo
Blackout! Mark off all twenty-five squares of the board.

Read a classic romance. There are two basic elements that comprise every romance novel: a central love story and an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending. Another definition of the romance genre is a narrative genre in literature that involves a mysterious, adventurous, or spiritual story line where the focus is on a quest that involves bravery and strong values, not always a love interest.
★B5: Classic of Europe
Read a classic that is either set on the European Continent, or is written by an author native to that geographical region.

Still finishing up 2020's board, but I am excited to start planning for 2021! I already have a handful of "definitely read" books for next year, so we'll see if they fit the categories for 2021!
Like Angie, I still have a ways to go to finish 2020, but I'm still excited to be nearing the planning phase again. I don't know why this is so much fun--it just is. Thank you Katy!
I am also looking forward to planning out my 2021 reads. So many possibilities! This group has really added to my Mt TBR.

I too have to finish 7 books for blackout. I enjoyed it very much so I will be going for BINGO 2021 too.

I dropped out of bingo this year, but I'd like to read more classics next year, and participate ine the group, I've been lurking this year. And I always love bingo.
This is the only challenge here I really enjoy, but next year I’m not participating. With the challenges of this year, I couldn’t concentrate on reading anything more than Agatha Christie, Harry Potter, and rereads of my favorites. I have a list of classics from this year that I hope to read next year. Mid year I’ll see where I’m holding in terms of the board and if I’m close from what I already read, then I’ll fill a card out.
Oh, I forgot to ask: You don't have to choose the books beforehand, right?
the bright spot in my week-end is seeing this thread started. I have a few classics on my ‘21 reading list, and I really hope to do better in my bingo this new year. Tbh, that bar is set really low. Thanks for doing this!!

Thanks, then I'm in. It really doesn't suit my reading style / personality to choose beforehand for a whole year. I like to plan, but see it more as a source of "oh I have these options", than something I want to stick to.

I struggled with concentrated reading myself and hope next year will be better. I, too, have a list of classics I want to read next year, and I will fill in the card where they fit in, but I don't intend on doing a lot of advanced planning... just going with the flow in 2021.

I have resolved not to plan too much too early. In 2020 I found it impossible to finish challenges that required reading the monthly group read and also challenges that required a pre-made list. So I have decided to hold off on list until after we have voted for both January and February Group Reads. That way I can be a little more strategic in choices. I just am not very good at sticking to a list.
I’m not even bothering with that. I find I don’t do well with yearly challenges. Mid year I’ll check a card against what I’ve read and if I’m close then I’ll fill it out. Otherwise, I stick to no stress reading.
I am looking forward to Bingo this year. I always do but the planning this year will be more important than ever. My husband passed away in late September and I find the structure of a list really helps me get through the day.

Challenge lists give me a good structure, albeit for different reasons, and I'm glad that they benefit you in that way as well. It's the little, one day at a time pleasures with a guarantee of an accomplished future sometimes.
I'm so sorry to hear this, Janet. I can also understand how the structure can be helpful, and hope you enjoy some reading escapes as well. Take care.

I hope I said hello to everyone. I intended to. This is my first Bingo, and I hope I allow myself to enjoy it rather than work it. Looking forward to finding out what everyone reads throughout the year.
