Theresa | 15542 comments Murderbot heads back to the mine where it allegedly went berserk and killed everyone working tbere years earlier, before going rogue. It hitches a ride on a sophisticated transport named ART, sharing its entertainment downloads, and ultimately working together to get Murderbot back to the mine. As part of that effort, Murderbot hires out as a security consultant to a small group of scientists who were negotiating the return of private data from the company that stole it when they were fired from their current assignment. Murderbot of course saves the day, the data, tge humans, and acquires another group of human friends.

I just love Murderbot!

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12582 comments Never read this author before, so I looked her up. I am not a Sci-Fi fan, but she has a fantasy series that looks interesting. Never pictured you, Theresa enjoying Sci-Fi-and to say you love it-well that in itself makes this author worthy for me to try-

Cora (corareading) | 1921 comments I consider Murderbot one of my go to comfort reads.

You are right, SciFi is so far from anything I read, but not as unlikely as horror. The Murderbot Diaries are simply awesome. I kept reading about them, mostly from women, many refering to Murderbot as their spirit animal. So I was already curious when Feminerdy Book Club picked tbe first to read several months ago - All Systems Red. It is only about 98 pages and I LOVED it! How can you not love a rogue robot who is a bit if a slacker, prefers spending time watching soap operas on her mental feed than working? Yet always manages to save the day. I think you would love these. Plus they are all short .... I read this one on the trip back to NYC as only 149 pages.

The truth is that if the writing etc. are really good, it does not matter in the least if it is something you normally read. And this is an author I am keeping in rotation.
