Skye (skye_reads) | 12 comments This is my first time trying to read this epic novel. Reading & have the Audio book as well, wanted to hear pronunciation. Also reading the Spark Notes.

Skye (skye_reads) | 12 comments I read there are over 600 characters in this novel, not all primary of course. Wikipedia has two helpful family tree graphics near the top of the War and Peace page.

*Spoiler*- Did not consider this at first, but studying this family tree graphic could create a spoiler for you.

Gothica Noctua (gothicanoctua) | 25 comments I felt for Pierre at the soirée - I never know what to say or how to act at parties, either. And Antole and Dolokhov - what a pair of party animals they are!

David | 1 comments Literally just started, and I already love the characters and the writing. The writing is so lively and animated, and I love the character of Anna Pavolovna and Prince Vasili. I definitely get "Dangerous Liaisons" vibes reminiscent of the persiflage between the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont. Certainly not the dry read at all that I was lead to believe it is. Looking forward to more.

Gothica Noctua (gothicanoctua) | 25 comments I have now finished this section, and have summed up my thoughts below. I have used spoiler tags, but these may not work on e-mail notifications or on mobile. As such, read ahead at your own risk.

Skye (skye_reads) | 12 comments It would seem that Pierre’s illegitimacy creates a cloud for him wherever he goes. Without this there is perhaps so much more.
