Lizzy Siddal (Lizzy’s Literary Life) | 302 comments I have three recommendations for you on the theme of immigrant experience, written by immigrant writers. Which one would you like to read?

Alina Bronsky: The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine / Die schärfsten Gerichte der tatarischen Küche
Olga Grajsnowna: City of Jasmine / Gott ist nicht schüchtern
Pierre Jarawan - The Storyteller / Am Ende bleiben die Zedern

The title with the most votes on Monday 4.01.21 will be the book we will read. In the event of a tie, I have the casting vote.

Andrea | 32 comments I enjoyed Bronsky's Baba Dunja book so much. A group read would be the perfect excuse for me to buy 'The Hottest Dishes of the Tartan Cuisine' :-)

Erin | 64 comments I also vote for the Bronsky book, as I just asked for it for Christmas, so I'll own it! I'm looking forward to reading it.

2nd choice would be the Pierre Jarawan book.

LOL, but Alina Bronsky, does, in fact, only have one 'i'! At least according to all the book covers and her bio...

True, and I can’t spot a typo. Now corrected.

Lizzy Siddal (Lizzy’s Literary Life) | 302 comments Christiane wrote: "Sind eigentlich Rezepte in dem Buch?"

Eigentlich nicht.

Lizzy Siddal (Lizzy’s Literary Life) | 302 comments Ladies, you have chosen well.

I look forward to reading Bronsky’s novel for the 3rd time! It is a cracker, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and will again!

I’ll set up a separate discussion thread ...
