Betsy | 930 comments Hey page-turning adventurers, this is the space for all your frequently asked questions, suggestions and feedback. Moderator support is encouraged, and joyful banter is expected.

How many books does the group read a month?
The group reads 3 books a month:
- one classic (published 1969 or earlier),
- one modern classic/best-seller (published 1970 or later), and
- one "bookshelf catch-up" book which is a reread of a book on the club's bookshelf.

You can find all previously read books on the group's bookshelf. As for current reads, you can find groups discussions here.

3 books? Do I need to read them all?
We have 3 books a month for flexibility, you do NOT need to read them all. In fact, you don't need to read any if you don't have interest or don't have time. There are plenty of other ways to participate!

How and when do I nominate books to be read?
Head on over to the BOTM Suggestions Folder . You can nominate books for different monthly categories there. Suggestion discussions are open for the first two weeks of every month preceding polling.

When are BOTM (book of the month) polls open?
BOTM polls will be open for the last of every month to decide books for the following month. Ex. Polls are open the last week of January to decide March BOTMs. Vote on polls here.

Recommendation Requests
If you have a specific request for book recommendations, head on over to the Recommendation Requests folder and scroll through existing topics or start a new topic with your requests!

Thanks all!

Discord is a VoIP, instant messaging and digital distribution platform designed for creating communities. Users communicate with voice calls, video calls, text messaging, media and files in private chats or as part of communities called "servers".

Laura | 685 comments Hi i just have a quick question, when does the next quarterly read get decided?

message 8: by Betsy (new)

Betsy | 930 comments Hello Laura, since there has not been much member involvement for the last year of Quarterly Long Reads and much more positive interactions in the similar concept of the Buddy Read section, we will be discontinuing this category after March.

Laura | 685 comments Sorry, another quick question.

Do we set up a thread for our buddy reads or does a admin have to do this? :)

Hi Laura,
Members can set up threads for buddy reads. Before setting up a thread post to the Buddy Read Notice Board to make sure there are other members interested in reading the same book and to set up a good time to read it.

message 13: by Laura (new)

Laura | 685 comments Hi thank you for getting back to me. Me and another member have agreed to start a buddy read tomorrow. So I’ll set that up now! Thank you!!

message 19: by Betsy (new)

adele | 118 comments Would it be possible to bring the quarterly long reads back? It got me reading bigger, mostly classic books that would have otherwise been too daunting. Great motivation and I just really loved it.

Well, voting ends November 28th. The winning book becomes an "Upcoming Pre-read" topic on December 1st. Since this poll is for January 2022 books, the book will travel to "Current Reading" on January 1st. Hope this helps!

Miriam (miriamgetlost) | 6 comments Hi, I'm looking to find the book bingo card for 2022. Can you tell me where and when it will be available?

message 25: by The ComManda (new)

The ComManda | 6 comments How do you copy a link to the book's GR page in a comment on the app? I noticed everyone else's suggestions were blue links, but mine is just regular text. Hoping it doesn't is qualify my suggestion...

message 26: by Tori (new)

Tori | 1177 comments Mod
The ComManda, some things like adding a link to a book work better on a computer. it is fine if your suggestion isn't linked. it will still be accepted as long as it fits all the criteria.

message 27: by Betsy (new)

Betsy | 930 comments Miriam, the Bingo card for 2022 is now up and running over here.

message 31: by Rashi (new)

Rashi Chandok Hi! Does this book club have any video calls to discuss the books or are the discussions just on Goodreads?

Also, if you know any virtual book clubs where about 5-20 people get together on a video call to discuss books, then please let me know. I would love to be a part of a community where we read the same book and then discuss it at leisure :)

Well, so far our book discussions are text-based, but you bring up an interesting idea, which we will be exploring. Thank you for the suggestion!

Megha wrote: "How do I find Book of the month easily? I just joined this group today. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you."

Welcome Megha! The current BOTMs are listed as "Currently Reading" when you enter the group's page. Next month's BOTMs are also listed as "Upcoming Reads". Top right corner has an icon called Group Discussions and there you can find all your group affiliations for easy access. Hope this helps!

Quinty (Taylor's Version) (queenq) | 278 comments I can't see the suggestion threads for the June BOTMs? When I click the link from the announcement, it just takes me to an empty folder (with just the FAQ visible).
