Book of The Month discussion

I noticed that not everyone will get to read the months selection during the month of the release, some might be a tad behind (a few years) on their TBR pile of BOTM selections and one might not want to hunt down the books folder to post. So here is the place to post what you are reading, weather it's this months selection or a 2016 selection. However if you want to read what other members though about the book, you might have to hunt for the folder for the book.

Just finished The Veins of the Ocean which was one of June 2016 selection. I'm just a tad behind. Now I'm going to go look for the folder for this book see what others thought of it.

After looking through the old post, 2017 was the first year for the group. Therefore no folders for book prior to 2017. I might create one, if anyone else is interested in posting their thoughts about this book. Let me know.

I’m reading one of my December selections, Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam. I just finished another December selection, The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins, yesterday.

I have a number of BOTM club books that are not yet read. I would come back with comments if the books were here in folders.

I just finished White Ivy. It kept me intrigued, however, I disliked the main character and the train wreck that was she and her life.
Bonus: Got a lot of great quotes.

I just finished one that I picked up as an extra, because I did not get it when it was featured ~ Anxious People.

Better than Backmans most recent books - but Ove is still my favorite.

I'm liking it--don't know much about Franco-era Spain, so I'm learning a bunch. If you liked Salt to the Sea or anything else by that author, you'll probably enjoy it.

Yay! Thank you! I've loved everything else from this author, so I'm really glad to hear this one is good too! I don't know anything about that era either! Ooooh, now I want to grab it as my next read! :)

I just finished The Removed and I'm really disappointed. I enjoyed the first several chapters but the rest was just a little to "removed" for me. Too many loose ends

I loved all three of Jane Harper's previous novels but this one fell a little short for me. Have you read "The Dry" by her?

I have, I've read all 3 of her other books and loved them. but I can see how this one doesn't have the same....spark that I loved about the other ones. This one is a little slow going...

But I'm reading The Survivors with a group of friends through BOTM Book club option (so we have little discussion cards and everything from BOTM) so we're all debating on who we think did it!
I think that will probably save this one for me, just reading it and discussing it with friends. But I'll definitely update when I get to the end - hopefully I still like it!

I'm seeing some pretty mixed reviews on this one....seems it's a love or not love kind of story. Loose ends, I can definitely see how that can be frustrating
I was getting ready to start it over the weekend...well, hopefully it's not too bad :)

I am maybe 100 pages into and finding that I need to read it slowly because it is such beautiful prose. There's no skimming through this, each paragraph seems to contain some phrase that's worth considering (and that's not my normal approach to fiction).
I'm finding the story itself compelling, though there are chapters that breakaway from the main story that are still a mystery.

I'm just a little ahead of you Trisha, maybe a chapter or two. Posted some comments on the book folder. Let do this hehe

Anyone else? All are welcomed, really like to know how everyone else finds this story as you read along.

How was The Library Book?
I'm still slowly progressing through and now reading and for BookRiot challenge prompts.

The library book was A little slow in the beginning but then it gets better and goes faster. Very interesting what librarians put up with and what the where expected to do.

I really liked Evicted--not a happy read but very eye-opening, especially as it relates to the disproportionate impact eviction has on women. The author is the keynote speaker at an upcoming Habitat for Humanity fundraiser here in Seattle and I'm interested to hear him speak.

Definitely not a happy read, Matthew and Trisha, but so far really interesting. Based on a study but reads like a novel.

It hits home because I'm a landlord (is that the right term). Most of our renters are acquaintances and are on very good terms with them. They have never been late on their rents and take care of the property and we have never raised the rent. I don't understand the need to raise it if the property has been paid and most of the money is profit. The truth of it is that we don't do it for the profit but to help people have a place to call home. So, I'm having trouble with these slum lords in the book. How can they take and take from these people when they know they barley have to survive.

My parents rented a duplex for so long and compared to the ones in the story our landlady was awesome.

I wish I knew how they were able to locate properties for so low.

Finished Goodnight Beautiful. Man he was nuts.

Started and finished yesterday Daughter and mother stories always make me cry. Really liked this sad story.

Today I'm thinking on starting . I thumbed through it last night and it's over 400 pgs! with very small font!

My shipment of new books will arrive on the 3rd, I'm hoping I'll be close to finishing so I can start on the new ones. I think I got to all the books that I ordered this month. Yay

I'm so jealous!! Congratulations!! I still have so so many books that I'm behind on. I had to catch up on some ARC's in February but I'm finally starting another BOTM pick: The Girl in the Mirror

After finishing i started and finished then then boxes came in and started finished it ydsterday 3/10 and started

I think I'm missing one I'll have to go to my notes.

Midnight Library, was meh, I tend to stay away from time traveling type of stories. I tried this one due to the great reviews. It was different than a true time traveling story which it was great, the one thing that I didn't enjoy was like I mentioned earlier, I don't have the patience for the poor me type weather it's in real life or stories. FMC to me was like that up until a point then it was like she finally got it. For the last few chapters, I liked her. But the story was great.

Finished man did I do a 360 on one of the MC. Really enjoyed the story. I rated it as a 5.

Started I see why all the hop raw about this book. It is very good, almost finished.

Finished last night and waiting for April ones to be posted! I loved the story line, but I wasn't in love with the present MC, Caroline. The way her parts were written really bothered me. But I loved the chapters with Nella and Eliza.
