Progress: 5/9
Since my husband was born on Groundhog's Day, I must read at least one book in his honor. 😁
1. Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd. Read a book published in February (any year).
⛄❄ 2. Groundhogs are famous for predicting Spring. Read a book set in the springtime.
Murder at Turtle Cove by Kathi Daley - Feb. 20
⛄❄ 3. According to legend, if the groundhog comes out of his burrow on February 2nd and does not see his shadow then, Spring will come early. Read a book with the word "legend" in the text. (State passage and location)
The Eskimo's Secret by Carolyn Keene - p. 71 "The Tundra has been part of a legend for quite some time." - Feb. 6
4. If the groundhog sees a shadow, it goes back into its burrow, and Winter will last 6 more weeks. Read a book with a number in the title.
5. The largest Groundhog Day Celebration is held in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Read a book set in Pennsylvania.
⛄❄ 6. People have been gathering in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to celebrate Groundhog Day since the late 1800s. Read a book with at least 1,800 ratings on Goodreads.
Baby-Sitters Club Graphix #8: Logan Likes Mary Anne! by Gale Galligan and Ann M. Martin - Feb. 4
⛄❄ 7. The famous groundhog who predicts the weather in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is Punxsutawney Phil. Read a book where a character predicts something.
Yarn to Go by Betty Hechtman - Feb. 25
⛄❄ 8. How often is the groundhog right with predicting Spring? Many people argue that answer. Some say he is between 75%-90% correct others say 35%. Read a book where two people have an argument or difference of opinion.
Valentine's Day Secret by Carolyn Keene - Bess and George have a fight and aren't speaking to one another - Feb. 9
9. In 1993, Bill Murray starred in a movie called "Groundhog Day" about a weatherman who finds himself inexplicably reliving the same day over and over again. Re-read a book you've enjoyed before.

TASKS
1. Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd. Read a book published in February (any year).
2/18/21 Storm of the Century published Feb 1999. Story takes place during February also.
2. Groundhogs are famous for predicting Spring. Read a book set in the springtime.
2/27/21 Offspring the full story takes place during May 12th - May 13th
3. According to legend, if the groundhog comes out of his burrow on February 2nd and does not see his shadow then, Spring will come early. Read a book with the word "legend" in the text. (State passage and location)
2/7/21 The Hobgoblin of Little Minds Kindle edition page 8 of 204
Quoted sentence: This area was dubbed The Evil Woods, one of many legends of the area.
4. If the groundhog sees a shadow, it goes back into its burrow, and Winter will last 6 more weeks. Read a book with a number in the title.
2/5/21 One for the Money
5. The largest Groundhog Day Celebration is held in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Read a book set in Pennsylvania.
2/22/21 Dead Man's Song Takes place in the fictional rural town of Pine Deep, in Bucks County Pennsylvania.
6. People have been gathering in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to celebrate Groundhog Day since the late 1800s. Read a book with at least 1,800 ratings on Goodreads.
2/7/21 The Midnight Assassin: Panic, Scandal, and the Hunt for America's First Serial Killer 5,042 ratings. Mostly takes place in 1884-1885
7. The famous groundhog who predicts the weather in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is Punxsutawney Phil. Read a book where a character predicts something.
2/14/21 The Death of Mrs. Westaway Hal (Harriet) makes "predictions" of a sort. She is good at reading people. She is a Tarot card reader and she helps people find guidance in questions that are troubling their lives when they come to her. Not any literal predictions, but still insight to their problems and possibly futures based on choices they need to make. Hal ends up having to use her intuition and people reading skills to unravel a mystery that is plaguing her own family, which are complete strangers to her, when she gets pulled into their lives after the death of her unknown, to her, grandmother. Not trying to sound like a review here, but this was a very good story.
8. How often is the groundhog right with predicting Spring? Many people argue that answer. Some say he is between 75%-90% correct others say 35%. Read a book where two people have an argument or difference of opinion.
2/15/21 The Butter Battle Book I know this one is short, but this is a very thought prevoking story of the worst kind of difference of opinion clash.
9. In 1993, Bill Murray starred in a movie called "Groundhog Day" about a weatherman who finds himself inexplicably reliving the same day over and over again. Re-read a book you've enjoyed before.
2/12/21 The Dragon Reborn The first time I read this book was in February 2012. This story would also fit the prompt for a story where a character makes predictions.
Sarah-Grace (Fully Booked) wrote: "I don't have a "prediction" on how many of these I will be able to get to. This one is exciting since I live only a 45 minute drive from "Punxsy". 😃
