Josh Hetcher | 8 comments The Invisible Man is a short, thrilling story written during the late 1800s in a time of scientific discovery and invention. The book is about a scientist who discovers and creates a serum to make himself invisible and while the book is mainly about how he lives with this condition and his spiral into desperation and insanity, H. G. Wells does a beautiful job of going in-depth to describe how the science behind becoming invisible would work. It is intriguing to read about such an advanced concept through the lens of a nineteenth-century mind and gives the reader a newfound appreciation for the amount of thought and research that went into such a work. Character development is somewhat lacking in the first half of the read but it was still a gripping story that I vigorously read through. If you as a reader are interested in classic works and an older style of storytelling this book is for you.
